alternative lanyard material

I'm in Eastern Ontario. I have found what I'd assume is nylon cord at an outdoors store, so I might try some of that and even a few leather ones too. Thanks!
 
A couple months ago Stormdrane posted some things he'd made out of lacrosse stick crosslace cord. He reported it to be a bit stiffer than paracord, but workable, and it's available online in a variety of colors. You can check out his site at stormdrane.blogspot.com
