You can order replacement lanyard pins from CRK for about $6 each. I take off the stock lanyard with the pin intact so I don't have to unravel them and put it away in the box for safekeeping then add my own creations. These are made with leather shoe string purchased from wally world. Another example below is the style that I like when using paracord. It's a combination of snake and diamond knots.
