Alternative to Cold Steel Kobun?

I just got mine and I think they may have went to a different material for the sheath because it does not look the same as the other sheaths I have from them . I have had issues with the securex sheath material
Dulling knives ... It has Fiberglass in it and it plays hell on a fine edge so I have had kydex ones made... This one seems to be a lot easier on the blade

I too have a Kobun and have not noticed this problem but then again since its a modified tanto shape its mostly used for piercing not slicing!

My Kobun does not have this issue. Maybe it has something to do with how you're drawing the knife? Try to put pressure on the spine and notthe edge when drawing it.

Cold Steel recently released a new sheath for the Kobun. It's got a metal clip and I believe it's Tek Lok compatible.

My honest suggestion? Get one of the new Kobuns with the new sheath.

To be fair, I have a CS Kobun and have not had this problem at all. Not sure if my experience belongs to the minority or majority, however I have to admit that it's been the ideal boot knife for me.

I have two Kobuns. Love 'em. have not had the sheath problem others have. At all.
