Alternative to Cold Steel Spike /w better steel?

Depends on how you want to use it. If you're more interested in "stickability" vs cutting/slicing, you might appreciate this one
5" handle, 4" blade (the blade is almost triangular, in shape - not a slicer; though I'm sure it could be made differently)

What knife is the one in the picture you posted? I really like the design.

I have the Hartsook in S30V, neat little minimalist knife but WAY too small. It's more like a scalpel, sharp as one too. The thickness is around the same as an average liner lock's lock bar. Think less than 2mm.

I had a Hartsook and was shocked at how much I liked it. It is small, but it proves how little knife you actually need. Sure, I can EDC my ZT 801, but the puny little Hartsook does the same job at aether weight taking up no pocket space. Good steel, great design, stellar price and an all around good knife.

Another option would be one of the AG Russell knives, the little neck knife with AUS-10 steel. Another amazing little knife that proves how little knife one actually needs.

I thought I would also mention that if you want a knife for self defense... Don't. Mace or a stun gun are more effective, and are far less likely to get you in jail because you seriously wounded an attacker. Carry a knife for knife things, like opening packages or cutting food, and get a self defense tool for self defense.
