First post here, so I hope this is an interesting question for you guys:
What would be a good alternative to an Izula, with similar versatility, portability and coolness, but at a lower price?

I mention the Izula because I think it's a reference to a lot of people and it pretty much looks like what I have in mind.
What I'm looking for is this type of small and simple fixed blade, but very strong, with a versatile sheath.

The idea is to carry it together with an axe, sheaths attached. On different situations, it will also be carried on a belt or attached to the outside of a backpack. To be used in the woods almost exclusively, with snow in the winter and rain the rest of the year.

The thing is, I won't use it all that much, so I think something in stainless steel would probably be better. And I don't want something pricey, because the axe gets a beating and anything attached to it will also suffer.

Any suggestions? Are other manufacturers coming up with something interesting to stand up to the popularity of RAT knives?

what about the crkt ritter rsk mk5 its a tiny stainless steal knife that looks like what you are looking for and is about 20$-25$. I dont have one and cant personally vouch for it but maybe worth checking out.

There is no alternative to an Izula. :D

That being said maybe check out the CRKT Dogfish?

yeah i guess id have to say becker necker.

but ithink you should just wait awhile and save for the izula.

I think the Buck Mayo Kaala is a hell of a bargain at well under $80 with S30V. Some places have it for under $60 ;)

The Becker necker would be the closest thing but the Izula is top dog in its size and weight class.

Save and get the Izula, in my opinion. However, if you can't wait, than the Becker Necker.

I'm not even gonna say it... Wait, yes I am since this thread is kinda all over the place - GO CUSTOM!
Okay, I said it.

Now, let's look at what you asked-

"What would be a good alternative to an Izula, with similar versatility, portability and coolness, but at a lower price?"

Before we go any further with the rest, I think Blind Horse & CRKT are the only ones mentioned that fall into the price window.

Now, my opinion is; When pursuing cool, one needs to throw price OUT OF said window.

With that being said, for $30 my ass would be all over the Blind Horse. For $55, the Izula. For $80, the Mayo Kaala. For around that price and/or a little more, a custom piece.

However, something tells me you kinda have your mind made up already.

Good luck. What color are ya gonna get?

i will stand by my comments.
dogfish has a handy bottle opener if i recall but uses typical crkt steel
necker has a fugly handle IMHO
to each his own

indeed to each his own, but the BK11 has a bottle opener too, and a much much better steel than crkt.
