Looks like im going for the blotchy feminine look (smooth shaven arm with patches of hair). Is there something that i can use at knife shows, other than my arm, to demonstrate hair shaving sharpness (other than paper) that has a similiar wow factor to the hair flying off my arm.

Haha...depending on the edge you put on the blade, push-cutting paper is always nice. Heck, you can slice a piece of paper with another piece of paper if you practice enough, but a push cut requires a bit more keen of an edge. Also, it's always fun to filet paper.

Ah, another person suffering from Knifemaker Mange :D

I am quite interested to hear about everyone's favorite alternatives.

If you keep your hair short, just let it grow out a bit and shave parts of your head... at the end of the show hit up supercuts or something...

Shave the customers arm!!!

You could bring a girl with you and shave her legs a bit at a time...

You could shave your arm pits...

Lots of hairy things can be shaved. A piece of deer hide, an old mink coat, etc. I find 20 pound bond paper neater and easier to clean up than a table covered in hair.

I cannot think of anything as readily available as newsprint. get one of those nickle ad booklets. Any halfway decent knife will slice a page straight down the middle but a good edge is required to slice the four corners cleanly. The better the edge the cleaner the slice. If that isn't good enough, try tissue paper and toilet paper.

I like to take a sheet of newspaper, hold it in the middle perpendicular to the floor, stab it and cut a semicircle to the left, repeat the stab and cut a semicircle to the right. This technique will uncover a burr in a hurry. Two mirror image smiles indicate that your knife is ready for most cutting tasks. Your arms will thank you.

Toilet tissue is a good test medium, but perhaps not the most flattering thing to be cutting when trying to make a sale. "Onionskin" or tracing paper come to mind as alternatives. Free hanging thin plastic, like stretch wrap, is another good cutting challenge
