Folks I have to apologize because I know I've read the answer to this recently - I just cannot find it again.

What's a good commercial, readily available, alternative to Brownell's Tough Quench? I need 3-5 gal and prefer not to spend $60 a gallon if I can avoid it.

Thanks for your patience and assistance.

Go to Houghton oil on the net and call their number, ask for houghton quench G. Same exact stuff as tough Quench except repackaged for Brownells, for 5 gallons its around 100.00. I have delt with houghton recently and I tell you they are good people to deal with, its also nice that they will sell to us small quanties. They will also deliver it to you, but not sure of the cost. Anyways hope I helped,Charlie

Dave ya might be able to piggyback a delivery with another local customer. Thats what they suggested to me.

Like they said Dave great folks to deal with i use houghton and they might have a dealer near you. I get mine in Ottawa from a local source and it's the same price.

Bob

Okay - anyone have a preferred distributor? Looks like the closest one to me is Chicago. Thanks. I'm really ready to ditch the old veg oil...
