i was thinking the small can of wood finish? would this work as an alchohol type stove....?

i am to lazy to go to the stove websites...

i am thinking SUPER simple...no mods at all just put steel wool and some HEET and light it with the top off...
almost like a (oh i can think of the name, the gel in a can) type but it would generate more heat.
any ideas here?

this is my project for the morning...

You're thinking of sterno.

What type of pot at you using? That will determine a good stove set up for you.

A few good options that are cheap and burn well:

Swedish Army Trangia (available from surplus stores for $12 for a whole mess kit. The burner alone is worth that).

Supercat Stove. Search on youtube. Doesn't get much simpler and burns hotter and longer than a can of fuel. You need to vaporize the fuel to get peak efficiency. That means you need a jet type stove.

Just happen to have some pics of the supercat stove, very easy to make.
stove with optional base.
The base offers more support, but simple and basic, just use the can.
