altoid tin can kit

Here is what i carry . I dont go out hiking and camping as much as i used to so i modified this to fit my needs. If i am going on a hike or camp i add a few more things. If im just out and about this has worked perfect for me.

The card has some pretty heavy duty duct tape around it. there is a magnifying lens i got at target. I got a bunch from the optics place there.
the blue container has allergy pills . in the plastic bag is medical needs , razor ,pencil, buttons ,pins sewing kit,ect ect. eveything else you can see. Fits nicely with room to add if i need . i bought the pouch at a sporting goods store . Its not much bigger then a tin.

Im not to worried about having a blade in there since i always carry 3 or 4 on me and in what ever bag i have at the time.

i am getting ready to put one of these together with the tin that comes with the hest folder. i bought the esee mirror and nav/survival card set off the esee site for it. i will take the rod out of the esee fire kit when it comes in and replace it with a going gear 6" stick. the old one will go in the tin. i plan on adding the kevlar thread on a spool, fishing kit, paracord, looking at some preform tubes for various uses. this will not all fit in the tin, i am looking for a small pack to store it in. just have to wait for the hest to show up. i know it is on the way. the weather here isnt helping matters any. i have 5 packages that left the sort facility last night but are stuck less than 50 miles away and will get here when the truck brings them.

the new esee pack would be ideal but we know that they were gone in the blink of an eye so i am looking for other options.

I already have a good first aid kit. One Altoid type tin should be an USB battery for communications gear. The 2nd should be about fire and signalling ... I'm thinking mini jars of petroleum jelly and tampons, magnifying glass and candles. A couple of sterno cans should see you out for wet days. The above with a "Space Blanket" and half a bag of dried cat chow as emergency rations along with access to drinkiable water means you could hunker down and sit out something serious like an earthquake's aftermath.

I did not see these items covered;
I put a baby bottle liner in mine for water and some heavy duty tin foil I can make a cooking pot from.

I wouldn't waste the precious interior space with paracord - wrap it around the outside of the tin, make a survival bracelet, or whatever... that tin should be PACKED with stuff, and I recommend some bike tire innertube (ranger bands) around the outside. Keeps it closed tight as well as provides a way to attach other stuff to the tin - can also be sliced very thin to act as a fire accelerator.
