Just saw Alton Brown hacking away at willows with an Outcast on Feasting on Asphalt.
I know I've also seen him use an 0302 on the show, what else has anyone seen on the new show?
How many knives do you think he manages to pack with him on that bike?

I can't say anything from that show, but I've seen him use a Leek to cut a leek on Good Eats, along with various chives.

From what I have gathered posted here and watching
his shows myself, he has used the following:
Blur
Green Bump
Cyclone
Outcast
ZT 0302
Leek

I've seen him use several Kershaws. It always makes me smile when I see him using one. I wonder if he ever posts here incognito?

Alton is my hero.

While his recipes are somewhat pedestrian compared with others, they are easy to follow and his explanations into the science of how cooking works are fascinating. The "Feasting on Asphalt" series is pure genius. He somehow talked the Food Network suits into allowing him to take an extended road-trip and get paid for it. Brilliant!

In season 2, he uses a ZT 300 series (not sure which) to eat a chunk of sweet potato pie and then looks right in the camera: "Don't try this at home, kids."

He was at Blade last year.

while his recipes are a bit pedestrian, they are easy to follow.....and, ive never made one i didn't love :)

It was against my better judgment, but I tried adding apple cider to French onion soup, as Alton recommended.

He doesn’t always get it right.

ah, well, there are also recipes ive got nailed from handed down recipes and i just choose not to make it :)

I also saw that episode last night. He referred to it as his "jungle knife." In that same episode, he cut the kool-aid pickle with his silver twill G-10 Blur.

the blur or the leek? cause i know on good eats he used the leek, and i thought i have seen the blur, but who knows

I hate to spoil things, and although Alton Brown could very well love Kershaw knives, but he's most like also endorsed and paid for. See the front page of New Graham knives for Alton Brown/Shun Knives videos.

Probably easier to just go to the Shun web site.

He is still a well known knife nut and has been seen with knives other than Kershaws.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, he used Kershaw Knives on television well before he was paid to do so (A Ti Bump in a chili episode several years ago)..... I watch too much Food Network.:D

You don't have to start worrying until you own the first 10 seasons of Good Eats...not that I'd know, of course!!!

Like I said, he's been seen with other brands, I just didn't think they were worth mentioning here. ;)

The fact that it may only be "product placement" doesn't make it any less cool to see a knife you like on national TV.

well the shuns are sort of product placement, but as he has developed his own line of shun's its more just smart advertising on his part. most food network people have their own brand of something that they use on their shows, so it feels less cheap and they do try to shy away from placement of other brands for the most part.

as for my earlier comment, i have nothing against alton choosing to use a spyderco in a very early episode of good eats as i have great respect for the brand, i just choose (sharpmaker aside) to pretty much exclusively buy kershaw.
