All the knives in my small collection have plastic / G10 / etc. handles. I was thinking of getting my next knife with Al / Ti.

I like Benchmade AXIS, Kershaw Speed Safe assisted opening, and my Spyderco Native. Any suggestions for metal handed knives under $100?

Thanks for your help.

Spyderco do many knives with steel handles
Kershaw have some steel ones too, Leek and Chive are good ones
Benchmade 771 has Al handle

Handle preference will be just that: Preference. Having said that, I prefer stainless, titanium then G10 in that order. Aluminum is Ok but, it would likely fall into 4th or 5th place. The stainless models add a small amount of overall weight but, the feel of steel outweights the disadvantage of weight - in my opinion.

The plain jane stainless Kershaw Leek is a good buy around $45 or so. The handle is ergonomic, it fits in the pocket well, and the blade is nice. Same for the Native althought I slightly prefer the Leek.

It's always best to find a store that carries a good stock and go handle some.

pay a little more and get either the Bradley Alias, the Mayo TNT or the new kershaw leek in Ti and S30V. Or you could wait for Kershaw's junkyard dog framelock for under $70.

I think it depends upon the overall knife design.

Some aluminum handle knives I have owned:
Spyderco Toad
Spyderco Ayoob
Microtech UMS
Pro-Tech Stinger
Benchmade 720
Benchmade Crawford Leopard
Gerber Harsey Air Ranger
CRKT M21-04
CRKT M18
CRKT Mirage
CRKT M16
Victorinox Soldier
Victorinox Pioneer
Victorinox Electrician
Victorinox Cadet
Wenger Standard Issue

Some titanium handle knives I've owned:
Spyderco ATR
Benchmade Balisong 31
Buck 560
Boker Titan
CRKT S-2

And some steel handle knives that I have owned:
Spyderco Police
Spyderco SS Endura
Kershaw Leek
Kershaw Chive
Camillus EDC
Camillus military camp knife (imitation of the Swiss Army knife)

Overall, I like aluminum just as much as I like titanium, and I like ti and aluminum both better than SS.
So, if there was no difference in price, I would take a titanium handle folder over the other two, but I would not pay more for titanium.

Keep in mind that I'm only talking about folders.

Allen.

I'll get to a store to do an in-person comparison, but how does steel feel different than aluminum? Warmer / cooler? Smoother / grippier?

Spyderco R2, a grippy aluminum handle knife, under 100 bucks, razor sharp, tip up carry.
