Aluminum as a Handle Material vs. Titanium

Titanium can be anodized, and it holds up very well. An extra reason that the B/M 940 Al and 940 Ti are so close in weight is that the Ti model has an open back frame with standoffs, and the Al model is a closed back frame with a Ti spacer.

NO Aluminum for me! Except on a Microtech knife. Give me Ti or a synthetic any day.

I have a Rockstead Chi. Al has 1/3 the density of steel and handles on my Chi are thicker than most scales. The knife has a balanced weighty feel to it. I know of course it will ding easier if I drop it, likely show more scratches etc as Al is softer than steel. I accept this wear as my choice in a knife has several factors to it. As far as the lock (this one has a steel insert) it feels like a solid fixed blade to me. The design and execution is exceptional IMHO.

Either are fine. I don't like metal handled knives except for gentleman's knives. Makes no difference either as they both mar easily plain titanium or anodized aluminum .

the aluminium in rocksteads is not exactly your common aluminium. its a2024 alloy, very strong and fatigue resistant. used for plane structure parts.

I love the feel of CRK Sebenza and Umnumzaan titanium slabs. Never found anything better. I've held onto a lot of knives.
