Aluminum Discs?

"Sticky" posted a picture in his reply that showed an extended shaft coming from his grinder motor, set up for a disc grinder. Not to highjack the thread, since the subject is disc grinders, but can a similar thing be done with a Bader 3?

I'd love to be able to use an existing VFD and motor instead of building one from scratch.

mine works but you have to have a VERY precise shaft to avoid wobbling...mine is bent and wobbles a bit.

Hmmm, I have a Grizzly knife grinder set up that I don't even really use anymore since I got my KMG. I wonder if I could put a disc on the left hand side arbor. Right now all I have on there is a sewn buffing wheel, but I have other small grinders I could put that on. Anybody ever done it?

There is a similar topic on another thread.
I mentioned that the shaft and motor should be robust. Shaft extensions, poorly fitted discs, and anything that can cause even a few thousandths of wobble will be a problem. The best setup is a direct mounted ,lathe turned and bored disc, on a 5/8" or larger shaft. VS and reverse are great additions.

I am sure if you have wobble, you could take the disc/shaft to a local machine shop to true it up for pretty cheap. I have been following this, wanting to get a disc setup also.
