I just bought a glass peening setup to do some blades.Never done it before and would like to know if aluminum oxide is the material to use and if so what grit is best.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are two basic formats of blasting media, abrasive and bead. Abrasive is much more agressive and leaves a rougher finish, beads are round and peen/polish rather than abrade. There are different materials availible in each format. Aluminum oxide is abrasive and is one of the better types to use on hardened steel. Grit size is something you will have to decide for yourself, I prefer finer grit media but it takes longer to get a consistent finish.
