Alvin Branson's fish tail knife. part 1.

Just when I was thinking "It's been a while since Jackknife's posted a story" you type up this gem.

Thanks - Pat.

Jackknife, sir, thank you for this story.

I'm a new poster on the forum but I've been a lurker for a good while, and your tales always make me happy, excited, a bit sad, but in a good nostalgic way. Nostalgic for a time and way of life I've never experienced, if that makes sense. You capture the feel and atmosphere of times and ways of life gone by in a way that is truly difficult to do. As a younger guy, 27, living in a modern big city surrounded by people who don't seem to care for tradition or simple things like pocket knives, when I read one of your stories and feel the slipjoint in my pocket I feel carried away to a better time:) It must be that you're a fellow flatcap wearer as I seen in your Instinctive Knife Sharpening video:D

Great knife, too, the Opinel. Only had one, a #8, but gave it away to my brother randomly on a whim. going to have to replace it, maybe with a #6 this time.

Just got to reading this after I noticed it was posted a few days ago. I'm not on here as often/or for as long as I would like to catch up on things. This was another masterpiece of time travel.
Thanks Carl.

I discovered your stories completely by accident one day, when it popped up on the front page. Ever since then, I go looking for them every so often, because they are great. it gives me a bit of time away from school (something I desperately need sometimes lol). Thanks for the great stories

Brings tears to my old eyes. War is hell, but humans are resourceful and resilient!

And a few are great writers!!

...have you ever considered writing a book...? :)

Yes. A member here sort of volunteered to help get an e-book off the mark, and I may take him up on it. On the other hand, I've been working on and off on a novel, and I'd like to get that off. The only problem is, in my retirement I've been so busy having fun, that I don't get much time in front of the computer. There's trails in the woods to be hiked, canoes to be paddled, guns to be shot, and time to be spent with my better half doing many things, that I just don't seem to get a lot done. But I need to buckle down and just do it.

Carl.

Wow, Carl. I felt the bayonet and the pass of wind when Moose took out the German soldier. Thank you, sir.

You are gifted.
