Am I a Randall owner?

This is my attempt at humor.
My first Randall is expected to be shipped in 7 - 08. My question is am I an owner, a wanna be, or prospect (like they have you do when joining a gang)? Can I wear Randall merchandise like hats or T-shirts without being called a "sidewalk commando"?:D

Have you paid for it yet? If so, then yes, you are a Randall owner. Otherwise, you need to take that giant gold R off of your chest. :p
Sorry, you can't wear this yet:

Is that 7-08 meant to mean July of 2008? Tell me there isn't a 3 year wait on them.

KGriggs, from RMK direct it's actually up to 50 months, or a little over 4 years...

From dealers as short as 3 months to (in some cases) 2 years...

Then of course, there's always ePay...;)

Oh my, the trials and tribulations we Randall collectors will go through just so we can wear the 'R'...lol

So would joining the Society and buying a miniature get me in?
I've been waiting for mine since 9-04.
In the meantime I'll be saving up for one of those R's.(I'll probably have to settle for an embroidered baseball cap.)

I went to the Randall Knife Society web page to check out the miniature and THERE"S A 26 MONTH WAITING PERIOD FOR THEM!
I just can't win.

I would plan on attending "the" Blade show in Atlanta. Always lots of Randalls there. In the meantime, I would just bid of Ebay and get one or as many as you want. The premium on current manufactured knives is not that much. Why wait?

I completely forgot I ordered a Randall. Only about 3 more years to go! :barf:

I have a Randall knife. I am a Randall owner but I will tell you it is the most useless knife I own.

I have my first one on order. Why is yours useless if you don't mind my asking?

Because I was dumb when I bought it. For about $225 I could get a small hunting type knife and for the same amount I could get this big stainless steel combat knife so I figured more was better. It is too big to carry and I have never been able to get the thing to shave. My Sharpmaker will not even scratch the thing. It is a nice knife to look at but as I said it is the most worthless knife I own.

Mine will be a 25-6 Trapper in stainless. Of course I have 3 years to change to carbon if I want. When I ordered it I was advised that the stainless (440C) they use was well suited to a hunting knife. Now you've got me wondering....

Well, when I get time I am going to turn my EdgePro loose on the thing and if that doesn't sharpen it I will throw it back in my safe and when I am dead my son can worry about it.

amen brother!

Regarding the steel:
I would go Carbon if I was you. Carbon is the steel that I like the best on my Randalls and it is after all the Original steel :grumpy:
I own some Randalls and they are all users, the carbon are the best IMO when it comes to getting a good edge going.
Some of mine are old Randalls, well vintage if you will, and the carbon might be different now.

The stag handle #12-9 14 is stainless steel.

Cheers,

André
