Am I a Randall owner?

I ordered my first Randall (Model 14 carbon) in 1983. I was told it would be a 2 1/2 year wait. About 6 months later, I ordered a Model 14 from Nordic Knives, then the premier Randall knife stocker. I never cancelled my first order, and completely forgot about it.

In 1985, I ordered a Model 15 (Stainless) from Nordic Knives, prior to going to Panama. Still didn't remember about my first order.

In 1987 1/2, my mom said a package came from Randall Knives. I slapped my head in amazement as I remembered my first order! I told her to give it to dad for his birthday.

I've never had too much trouble sharpening either types of steel, although I found that a DMT diamond hone put an edge on the stainless a lot quicker than the original stone provided by Randall.

I was surprised to have someone at a knife show, that had many Randalls, say the stainless they use is 440A. If it was going to be used, the 01 Carbon steel will take a much better edge and is easier to keep sharp.

I think Nolan Raborn is overlooking the fact that if his Randall is "useless" to him, he should have absolutely no difficulty in selling it (likely for a profit) to someone wanting one.
