Am I expecting too much?

This is why I love convex edges.

I'm thinning out the edge and blending the cheeks on every single folder I get... give me taller bevels any day of the week. I've also never seen a factory edge that couldn't be improved on (outside of mora's zero scandi carving line).

Durp... forgot to say, my vote is just to sharpen it out. It's a $35 banger, make it yours and build some character. You'll appreciate it more once you personally fix it.

Also, am I crazy or was the grind really not that terrible?
 
I went ahead and reached out to Buck and they did take care of me. SmkW would have as well but Buck actually responded to my forum post before SMKW responded to the email I sent them (by about 3 days faster!) Replacement arrived today and the grind does look better.
