I have recently come across Grayman Knives and was curious why I don't see them that often on here. Is there any controversy surrounding the company or are they simply unheard of compared to higher end companies?

What's everyones opinions on their folders?

I would say the main reason you don't see them here is because Bladeforums General section is mostly about folders. I don't think there is any formal reason for that, it's just that the folder market is larger, and they are generally easy to carry on an everyday basis.

Grayman seems like they market mostly to soldiers, and others who do rough things in harsh conditions.

The exception to this is the Dua and Satu folders: those do show up here, from time to time.

I've never owned one, but I have been curious about them for a few years. Too bad they never seem to make it to Blade Show so I can check them out.

No controversy what so ever,, they are way more popular over on Instagram. I have a Dua and absolutely love it! Mike and Sue are awesome, answer calls/emails quickly, and make a killer product. Buy with confidence.

What? People talk about the Dua and Satu all the time!

I have seen them very occasionally in the exchange but other than that not too much anywhere else.

I've thought about picking one up but they are a little on the heavy side. Seem to be pretty good money wise for what they offer.

There's a TON of YouTube videos if you're interested,,

That's mainly where I see them too and that's where I first found out about them.

Plus if you buy one from them, if you don't like it for 30 days you can return it,,, doubt that's ever happened though :D

I have owned a couple of Dua's. Good knives, great folks behind the knives. I sent both of mine to Matt Cucchiara to smooth them out.

I've owned one, no complaints here, solid knife. I sold it and have tried other knives.

The Dua is an excellent, heavy duty, folder. Nothing fancy, all business.

Excellent customer service also!
A friend bought one second hand. The previous owner beat the snot out of it! The edge was literally destroyed!
He called them and exppained the issue. They put an amazing edge back on the blade and replaced all hardware. No charge and had the knife back in his hand in less that 2 weeks!
Excellent CS!
Joe

They are excellent knives at a good price. The Satu is absurdly large but the Dua is pretty much perfect. I highly recommend them!

I think we don't see them that much because there is nothing special about them. They are blocky and not really special at all, kind of ugly..

You bump and old thread to say that? Also, you might want to edit your signature. The "Jerkit" smiley is only allowed in W&C.

I like them but the trend nowadays seems to be non-hard use, and premium, non-utility based features, ie bearings.

ZT's 2017 line seems to be a good example of this trend.

Grayman hit the market at the time of the South Sudan fight for independence from Sudan, and supported the fight. That's why their knives are so overbuilt. Especially the big fixed blades are really military knives. Think Busse Combat. The Satu ciuld be a Busse Folder! :D
