Am I not smart enough for these new smart phones?

I got my first Blackberry like 3 years ago. It was a learning curve like no other, from a guy that does networking and desktop support for a living for 10 years. Overall, the phone I was given through work (Blackberry Storm) was not user friendly at all. In part because the firmware that was on that phone was bad, really bad. I could not get online, some issues with SMTP and POP settings not staying put, touchpad awkwardness, the screen lock button just plain sucked, to name a few. Within 9 months of having the phone, all my contacts were gone (over 125 phone numbers, addresses, email addresses). I was ready to snap. I got a replacement (the exact same one no less). I decided to simply use it as a phone and not try to make it into what it was designed to do. The folks at the RIM forums were all pretty much in the same boat as me.

I ended up requesting a HTC Incredible. I had ill will towards that phone too because of my previous experiences. I thought, great another POS that will end up getting the phone destroyed. But that was not the case. It seemed a little too cartoony at first. I have a phone loaded with teenager junk in it and I cannot uninstall all that garbage that I will never use. I've had a lot of really good results with it so far and it's been a year almost. I too can get online everywhere. The WiFi settings stay put, the screen isn't the biggest available, but it works for me.

The only gripes I have are the way that contacts are loaded. You cannot seem to place the phone into a horizontal position and type them in, you have to have the phone in a vertical plane. The layout of the contacts screen could be done much better. The "Phone' button is a PITA, you can easily end up dialing the last number you called accidentally just by pressing near the "Back" button.
The nonexistant native file manager. Overall I like this phone mych better than the BB Storm and Storm2
