Am I The Only Fan of the C-60 Ayoob model??

A sprint release with the new style button compression lock would be of great interest to me. Provided the new Smock model button compression lock does well in the wild. Hoping it does. As a lefty it looks damn near perfect.

I was really looking formward to the smock but they made some bogus ass changets ždd to the button actuated comp lock thatg ruin the knife for me.

Onu the original smock one could hold the button down and flip the blade out. Now with the design changes the knife has a double detent that only allows the knife to be opened with your thumb.

I have one of the aluminum handled ones that I carried quite a bit back in the day but has sat in a box for years. I feel like it was a really different, cool, and purposeful design that I didn't really need. I don't do much knife fighting on most days.

After modding this CS and comparing it with my moded military I was just thinking how the military reminds me of an Ayoob, due to the handle angle. It is plenty useful for general knife tasks, but View attachment 964042 it is really impressive how that angle lines the blade up with the wrist in a perfect neutral position for getting stabby!

Thanks for bringing that up "fishface5" because I've always loved the extreme, comfortable angle of the C-60 Ayoob model. Even the C-36 Military you just showed us has a nice ergonomic angle to it. I actually carry/EDC an M390 Military model but in a nanosecond I would change to the Ayoob if they would come out with one in a newer/better blade steel and make the new unit in Spyderedge. You guys have put up some interesting posts and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who appreciated the Massad Ayoob C-60 Spyderco folder.

There is one other item of discussion and I would like to get you guy's take on it. I've wondered just what the C-60 Ayoob would be like with a full flat grind. The more I use knives in my daily life the more I'm drawn to full flat grind blades ( fixed and folders). Although I will say that the C-60 has a really nice hollow grind to it. And maybe with one of the newer supersteels it might not make much difference anyway. But it is something to consider for sure.

That's interesting that you like the original early 2000s era release of the C-60 Ayoob model. Because almost every Spyder-head I know far more likes the G-10 Sprint version that was released in 2011. Now one thing I do like about the earlier model is that you could get them in Spyderedge and a lot of people were highly disappointed that you couldn't get the Sprint Run in SE.

Actually I kind of thought the first release was just a tad bit on the slick side compared to the G-10 Sprint Run. I would actually love to see a Carbon Fiber C-60 Ayoob with a newer/better blade steel. If they made a Sprint Run of about 1200 units I doubt if they would last even a month. The Ayoob interesting enough has kind of a cult following similar to the Terzoula models.

I really appreciate all the great feedback so far guys. Who else likes the C-60 Ayoob?? Because I know that there are more of you out there
