• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Am I the only one?

I've never met a power sharpened edge I liked, and couldn't make better by hand.

Since most of the knives I pick up these days are used, I will often give them a little brush-up before using them. I don't have the funds to cycle through a lot of knives, or have ones that are purely safe queens (save a couple really special ones) If they don't go into the users list, they go on the gift pile, and I could never gift a dull knife. As for all the new ones I've bought, they've never stayed sharp for long, I think the only knife I ever got that left my hands LNIB was one that ended up as part of a three part trade. I "owned" it long enough to stick the new shipping label on the box!

Jpm2, your comment reminded me of something I heard from one of my uncles (a long time farmer and timber cutter) He had been at a saw workshop/class for a job and the guy at the front of the room said "I'll teach you all how easy it is to put a factory sharp edge back on a chain" Apparently my uncle's response was "well, thats too bad. I've never yet bought a chain that was sharp enough."
