Who shudders a little bit when I see pics of razor sharp beautiful Busse & Kin, and then, beneath the blade in the background, there's a pair of bare feet?:confused::eek:

Of course, even with closed toe shoes if a MOAB drops on your foot...your new nickname has become "Hopalong."

But barefooted--- you're seriously tempting the tusk-tangled maws of the bloodthirsty INFI hog-gods with a sacrifice of flesh.....it sends a jolt of electricity up my spine everytime!

It may be time for a PSA....

I'm guilty, although it was probably with an izula.
I think they only thing that would protect your feet from a Moab would be these!

Your not the only one Petey!

I feel feel just as cringeworthy as you whenever I see bare feet and INFI.

Here's to having Ten little fingers and Ten little toes!

Don't lie mate we both know you're missing a finger or two after today's meet up! I think your nuked Battle Mistress ate one of my little toes for lunch too :D

(btw Petey i've got a little aboriginal blood running through me so i'm all good to chop bear foot, no worries )

I dropped a freshly sharpened FBMLE while walking up the stairs, Barefoot. No sheath at the time. The sight of a polished, low angle convex edge on that beast, tumbling and cartwheeling towards my unprotected feet was frightening. I took a bad cut to the back of my right hand stopping it from severing my feet at the ankle.

Yup, Big t...I only partly started the thread in jest...

because the combo WEIGHT + Beef or Garth level SHARPNESS of freefalling INFI can do some serious damage!

We're talking spontaneous amputations or veinous plunge cuts...NO KIDDING! This could be the one time you'd have REGRETS handling Busse's

Having a Busse knocked off a table, by a pet or a kid, not to mention a Hog's own clumsiness <read: drunkenness> isn't comparable to dropping a Mora or a kitchen knife.

Everyone knows to handle a Busse with respect when you're using it as a tool or WMD or therapeutic chopping/batoning

Hell even horsing around with our blades we're very mindful of being safe--- but sometimes we let our guard down and lose perspective <in multiple ways-- think about it> when we're looking thru our camera setting up a cheesecake shot.

Be safe HOGS, SOWS, & SQUEALERS!

Maybe im daring fate, but im not gona put on shoes when i carry CS WTF in the house lol knock on wood

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Forgive the non-Busse content, but I remember cringing my way through this video. Custom choppers and flip-flops, oh my!:

There's a whole thread around here somewhere dedicated to knife pics with feet. Lol

I wear steel toe safety shoes most of the time. At least my toes will be intact when the rest of my foot gets cut off. Looks better lol. I imagine dropping the BB13 or any other heavy blade would do some serious damage. That Video lol. Yes too cringeworthy. I am too safety oriented. I would have on long pants, steel toes and more than likely safety glasses. I took a bad injury years ago that has changed my life. It would not occurred had I taken just a bit of care in doing what I was doing. Now i am paying for the rest of my life for my haste. Maybe Im a bit too careful but after breaking my back, spending a couple of months in traction and the more than a half dozen surgeries to try and fix the damage, I'm a bit more careful now. Every second of my life I am now reminded about being careful. The pain will never stop until I am either paralyzed or dead. So I deal wit the pain lol. Words of wisdom. take it easy. "Measure twice and cut once." as for now we only have one body. Maybe in the future they can change that. But we got what we got. Now that measure twice and cut once works more than just cutting material. I think twice before leaping once also.

I learned the hard way that anything short of steel/composite toe boots with a super thick leather/kevlar carcass and similarly thick chaps is not going to make a huge difference with even a NON-shaving knife edge or a chainsaw. Most soft flexible fabrics like denim, nylon, polyester, etc. offer little to no resistance to decently sharp metal in motion.

Life isn't safe, but that is what makes things interesting. ;) If that scares you, maybe you should sell off your dangerous tools/toys ASAP while your meatsuit is still intact. :p

Geez that's a gnarly wound. Waiting for the Look-at-my-damaged-feet thread.

Gruntmedik - I cringe at seeing any feet in the pics too, lol

Ha, I'd acknowledge that long pants and boots don't guarantee saftey in the event of an accident, but I still wouldn't say chopping in shorts and flip-flops is a good idea, even if I know I could get away with it most of the time.

Saying that some protection won't make a huge difference is also a bit misleading imo. It's probably true in a worst case scenario assuming some sort of direct blow, but otherwise I'd say it just depends and that there are a lot of variables and different ways to hurt yourself, lol.

I'm not rolling in a bubble suit when I venture out, but I know boots and heavy canvas pants have helped me avoid injury a number of times, so that's what works for me, ymmv.

Not a Busse, but I did drop a knife on my toe a couple days ago.

Was sitting on the couch fondling my CQC-7A, and put it in my lap (open) to answer a text and got sucked into my phone.

Paused to look at the TV and heard a loud clunk, accompanied by that that zingy, brittle kind of pain that only comes with hitting bone.

My OPEN knife had and slid out of my lap, and sliced through my big toe knuckle on the way down.

Bleh.

Wanna know the REAL idiocy here? I do this CONSTANTLY. And every day I remind myself what a dumbass I am for it. The good luck wasn't going to last forever.

Yet, like tossing my phone or vaping crutch off my lap, or pocketing your Bic right in front of your face, even though I quit smoking, it seems to be one of those habits that will never cease, despite full awareness.

And I finally paid for it. Hope that will finally trigger the awareness to NOT SET MY OPEN KNIFE IN MY LAP ANYMORE!!!

I'm an idiot.

I find that wearing these offer many advantages when using a knife--protection from sharp edges, highly fashionable, and I can run faster and for longer periods of time:

:D
