I'm sure "Your Not the Only Guy" but it's a forum so if you don't like the thread or post skip it and don't read it. It's for people to ask questions, express ideas and opinions hence the name Blade Forums. Not saying there not annoying thou :o

Don't get me wrong. But asking a question about a simple sharpmaker or something can also do without the 'question for SAL' in the opening title doesn't it?

There are a lot of experienced people on the forums that can help, and if someone really wants a answer from Spyderco itself, imo they can mail to costumer service, and don't push it by forum titles. It's just nonsense to constantly opening these Sal topics, Ain't it?

Meh, the creation of the wharncliffe Delica shows Sal doesn't mind people online asking him to do things.

I did not say that is the point.

The point is, there is a difference between opening a topic with :

Who would like a Delica Wharncliffe

And

'QUESTION FOR SAL'

You understand my point right?

I've always considered this forum
to be just that: a forum. A place for discussion. It's one thing to start a thread that goes something like "wouldn't an LC200n PM2 be awesome" but I feel like it's another thing to say "hey Sal! Please make this!"

Sometimes Sal pops into a discussion and it's a nice moment that reminds us all how present he is here. It's like a nice treat. But I'd rather see him pop in of his own choosing and contribute to a conversation already in progress than people just using the forum as a public form of direct communication with Sal.

Just my 2 cents, of course!

I'll tell you why to ask Sal. My wife wanted a purple Dragonfly. She asked Sal and he responded positively, and viola, the knife came out (though I am certain it was in consideration already). That is a good reason. He likes to interact with his customers and he cares what they think. Let's face it, Spyderco has produced some pretty odd/interesting knives to suit its customer demands. I, for one, my wife for two, appreciate Sal and his commitment to his customers. We may not get every thing (some very harebrained) thing we dream up, but we do get some of them.

Agree with the OP completely. Some folks are just abusing the Spyderco owner's kindness and willingness to be present on this forum. Most of the questions can actually be answered by folks on this subforum and/or some staff members at Golden.

I don't think the OP or anyone has a problem with that at all :thumbup:Requests and dialogue is not the issue. No one is saying we should refrain from requesting or talking to Sal.

Wow, someone should tell Sal to take a look at this thread.

Hey Sal....! :D

Just kidding of course. I think the OP has a point. Sal sees what's going on and in most cases it's not necessary to give him a shout out. He already contributes much more than someone in his position should be expected to.

I owe you thanks, then. Bought my wife a purple DF 2 - her favourite colour, and the only way I can buy her a knife without her complaining :)

Why not have a "Hey Sal" Sticky Thread with a condition that replies, may or may not happen.

I might start with ... How abut a Sprint run of Spyderhawks?
