Am I the only one ????

At this point in time, I only buy knives that I will use.

ditto. ive been trying to cut back on knives that i wont use. i'm predisposed towards collecting and even to a degree hoarding. So having 4 big honking knives that i wont use and wont even go up in value is not very appealing so when they eventually lost appeal to me there would be no one to sell them to.

i can see why you would want them... but its not like you are trying to get an origional lile. that would be more up the alley of alot of people here.

I actually love this style of knife, although I am well aware of their flaws and inadequecies. I am always doing web searches for high-quality versions, such as Martin, Randall, Lile, and the Buck 184. I've never purchased a Rambo replica because I want to be able to actually use a knife if I want to. I think they would make a nice display though.

I could have sworn I've heard that even some early "imitations" of the Rambo knives have significantly increased in value. The world of collectors (not just knives) can be a funny place. After awhile even imitations of a popular item can develope a following of people willing to pay more than it's worth to own one. As always, a thing is worth what people are willing to pay for it. And there is no shortage of people in this world who like odd things. Even things that might seem worthless. Go figure.

As far as those Rambo knives, if you like them, that's all that matters. More power to you. Buy what you like and don't let the criticism of others bother you.

I to collect knives. I have numerous custom and production knives. I do enjoy the movies and think they would be fun to own. Just for strictly looking at. Thanks for all you guys thoughts.

Looking at them, handling them, sharing with friends and hanging them on a wall can all be considered "using", it's all good.

Schrade currently markets several that are milled from solid bars of tool steel. They're very good for the price.

I know someone that has them all, and has several of the first model.

Not for me, but if you like them go for it. As long as you like them it really doesn't matter what others think.

A few months back, Jerry Busse shared a picture of a similar style knife he made in the early '80s:

It looked awesome to me and got me looking all over for a similar style bowie that wasn't a total junker. Not a necessary knife, as I have far too many knives -but it is a sweet old style, in my opinion. The best modern equivalent I could find was the Schrade Extreme Survival hollow handle one-piece knife mentioned above. It's ok, made in Taiwan, kind of cool. Didn't really scratch the itch, though. Too bad Busse doesn't bust out an old school survival style blade.

If the Rambo series will bring you enjoyment, then enjoy them my friend :D
