Purchased a knife this past week. Paid 63 dollars for overnight shipping. Knife arrived the next day at my billing address, not shipping address. Double checked my records to make sure I put the correct address in the correct spot and I did. Emailed the seller to reimburse partial shipping cost since his mistake defeated the purpose of overnight shipping, he went silent....any thoughts? Am I out of line?

Sounds like the seller made a shipping mistake, it's annoying but crap happens.

Anyone can have good feedback when everything goes smoothly, it's how they handle hiccups and problems that shows their true colors.

I hope this guy works something out with you as far shipping goes and you can both be satisfied with the outcome. That's how I role. Throwing a huge fit and trashing a reputation over a couple bucks is silly.

So, no you're not wrong. Inform him what's going on and wait for a response. How long has it been since you informed him of the mix up and he went silent?

Also I try to be explicitly clear when giving my shipping address, like pm'ing it to them with very clear instruction on where I'd like it sent.

It may be redundant but I feel better after I tell them multiple times just to be clear.

Knife received Thursday, last email I got was the day before, thanking me for my order. Figure I'll wait til end of day Monday for a response and take it from there. I always get annoyed when communication is really good and then goes silent when things go wrong. I have dealt with this company before and things went fine.

Was this a retailer, or a personal transaction with a member? Some retailers will only ship to the billing address connected to the credit card. If it was a retailer, check their website to be sure.

Edit: Looks like it is a company. I would check to see if their shipping policy has changed since you last ordered from them.

It's a company? I was under the impression it was an individual. Being that it's a company refunding the shipping should be a no brainer.

It was a one man online shop. If that's the case, they shouldn't have a separate "bill to this address/ship to this address," section. Also had to write it twice. Once on their website and again on PayPal.

Exactly...why offer it if you don't do it.

Is your shipping address your (confirmed) shipping address on your Paypal account? If you paid using Paypal, they will likely ship to you confirmed Paypal shipping address for their protection, and yours.

Check which is your confirmed shipping address on PP. Pretty sure your item will be shipped there by default.

I checked out as a guest on PayPal so I don't really have an account.

Makes no difference, your information is what was given to the seller and he covered his tail by shipping to the address paypal displayed. Can't blame a seller for the way the payment processor runs that aspect.

My confirmation email from PayPal shows the correct info. I always purchase items this way and never had this issue.

Update: seller contacted me and refunded entire shipping cost even though I only asked for partial. All is good.
