Here is a Tore Fogarizzu's T-Lord folder engraved by Barry Lee Hands.
This is the #1 of 7 from a series of 7 pieces that will be engraved/carved by
various world class artists.

This piece was introduced at the Milan Knife Show and with it Barry introduced
for the first time, the "Nouveau Leaf" pattern, all new for 2014.
The previous pattern, "Renaissance Leaf" pattern has been retired…

The "Nouveau Leaf" pattern, has a more flamboyant, youthful ,exuberant and
romantic feel compared to the more reserved and classical "Renaissance Leaf".

Here the folder is set with over 100 VS+, F+ diamonds, and features yellow and
green gold inlaid into the black pearl - for the first time ever!
This makes for a very sophisticated knife by T. Fogarizzu with a unique look
and feel - ultra modern, yet romantic and emotional…

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Tore Fogarizzu just told me the names of all 7 world class
engravers/carvers that will participate in this project:

Knife #1/7 Barry lee Hands,
Knife #2/7 Manlico Torcoli,
Knife #3/7 Simone Fezzardi,
Knife #4/7 Martin Butler,
Knife #5/7 Brian Hochstrat,
Knife #6/7 Ron Skaggs,
Knife #7/7 Francesca Fracassi.

The whole project will be finished towards the end of
Summer 2014, in good time to be displayed in my next book,
"The World Of Art Knives" Vol. III

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

It appears to me as a vehicle for the exceptional engraving style of Barry Lee Hands, and as such, opens up no new vistas or is deserving of any accolades.

It is a decent looking knife dressed up to the nines, no more-no less.

While some of my fellow Forumites are gushing, I simply find it boring...the exception being Barry's engraving, and the killer blacklip.

I'm in awe. By every measure Tore's style on this folder IS a great vehicle for engravers. Lots of canvas.

It's straight and angular which is a juxtaposition for the myriad of curves that ALL engravers will impart.

This particular one has a lot of little complicated nuances: All those little 'buttresses' aren't on his normal variation. They unfailingly add more character for me.

Barry's raised florals appear cast, however, his processes must be mind boggling.

He's raised his bar to the highest level. These other world-recognized engravers are now upping their ante.

I'm looking forward to the series.

Thanks for posting this. Francesco Pachi clearly has HIS style and it is a pleasure to admire.

I would like to thank all the friends who appreciate my work, My style is a mix of straight and curved sides that oppose forever, this is alwais My style. This is a very sophisticated knife, designed and built by Myself. I tried to do something that embraces the best engravings. Has this work a unique look and feel, ultra modern. I am very happy that Barry and the client who commissioned this have been very happy with it. Will be the others. Thanks David for showing it. Ciao Tore

Nicely said, Jim, Tore's "vehicle" will indeed prove to be an amazing
platform for the world class art work these chosen embellishing artists can provide…

All the best,

And, I've edited my faux paus where I wrongly stated Antonio (his cousin), instead of Tore.

Both are such talented, and somewhat similar makers, even I need a scorecard. ;)

holy cow, those inlays and onlays are astonishing!!!! Inlaying black lip, wow!!!

The Emporer has no clothes.

As a knife collector for many years, I have seen vast interpretations of this form. Jack Busfield, Steve Hoel, Jess Horn, Joe Kious......Even in another thread, the inimitable Jack Levin has knives that follow this form, crafted and decorated in an almost Rococo manner.

The piece that David posted is very much representative of an entire movement of Italian knifemakers that in my opinion are bringing more of the same. It is a style completely embracing the knives Barrett-Smythe commissioned and sold in the '90's....knives that I might add originally sold for close to $10,000.00 that are selling for less than a third of that now....Again, these knives I am showing were made maybe 30 years ago, with the exception of the Barry Lee Hands engraved model that was made sometime in the last five years.

Please, convince me that I am seeing something that is worthy of the superlatives and great adulation being tossed around like so much rice at a wedding, and I will gladly change my perspective.

I submit:
