Hmmmm...
Obviously all of us know of the Wondrous, Magical, Place of Procurement of everything Possibly Purchasable, Gift (or Bain??) of the Internet.... EBay!

I've been trolling it for yrs, (as I'm sure, many of you have..... come to think of it, may have even lost some Key pieces to a couple of you  ), and have accumulated some cool stuff along the way...

Would LOVE to show them to you, but can't figure out how to do it with "insert image" above (please help the noob :( )

Anyway, what Amazing Finds have YOU won over the years of hunting there?

I realize that many people "hate that D@m# place", but please realize this.... Ebay is one of the only places where pieces that have been holed up in collections for DECADES sometimes end up.... usually thru being passed to un-knowing (or sometimes un-caring) heirs, spouses, relatives, friends, or anyone else that knows a true knife enthusiast.
Not to blow it up, (yeah Marcus, NOOOOOBODY's heard of it ;) ) but it is a literal TREASURE TROVE for the sharp-eyed, knowledgeable (& patient), Ebayer.. A Gigantic, Open, Online Pipeline that may take months (or even years) to produce, but once in a while something truly Startling comes down it (& sometimes for incredibly low $$$ :D )

It is literally the easiest way to quickly sell One Man's Trash.......What finds have you found that have turned out to be Another's Treasure?
With Good Pics please, & / or descriptions as to why the piece is Rare, Valuable, or just Plain Important to you...
I think this will be a COOL Thread!

WTF???
Wow "baba", thanks for making a complete stranger feel right @ home on the forums! :(

Why wouldn't this be a cool thread?
I've found stuff (as I'm sure others have) that I would have NEVER been able to find otherwise... with a family, house, job, I don't have a lot of time to go to knife shows, etc...

I don't...

Then don't post in it... :)

I've seen some nice older knives that you can't find anymore, like some old school Uncle Henrys and Case Knives....lots of nice little treasures on there.

I've gotten some good stuff on there. Knives sold in lots for a little of nothing. Very nice customs from makers that I'd never heard of. I've also gotten nipped, but the scale has weighed more in my favor than not. Nice finds and laughable prices converged together in one place.

You have to be a paying (Basic and up) member to use the image attachment option. You can host your pics on Photobucket or the like and use their given addy in the "insert image" box thingy though.

Seen a lot of older knives that were made in the USA back in the day, that are now made in China.

my buddy traded 2 pocketknives [had 40$ in them] fOr a mint Nordic RANDALL BOWIE.straight across even trade. WAS A GOOD DAY WOULD'NT YOU SAY ?

Why would anyone HATE Ebay? If you don't like it, you can ignore it can pretend it doesn't even exist, it's not like the IRS ffs.

I like Ebay a lot. They have a lot more sellers willing to ship to Europe than this forum does! :D

Also, internationally eBay is great place. There are virtually no Kershaw dealer in Finland. You can buy some knives here and there but current offering is limited 6 models of Kershaw ( folders and fixed blades included )

And all the knives U.S. has are mostly unavailable in the Europe. I got my CRKT Drifter SS today and paid <- $30 with shipping. In here, thru an import company: $79 same knife and that's without shipping.

One great has been Vic Tinker whcih was also unavailable in here. Now if I could just get Orange Alox handle Vic Cadet / Farmer...

eBay can be okay and you can often find fairly good deals on hard to find items. But, if it's something really desirable it will go for more than it would on the knife exchanges.
You also have to allow for a percentage of sellers not being 100% truthful about the knife's condition. I've bought more than one "NIB" knife from there that was not NIB.
One was in the wrong box and another had been carried, because the clip was marred up. These rare knives the sellers want to say they are NIB because they will sell so much better. People here tend to be a little more honest about condition, IMO.

I agree, I don't think this will be or is a cool thread either. :thumbdn:

Once again, if you are not interested in this thread your not obligated to post in it or even open it for that matter. You contribute nothing to the tread so in actuality, YOU are making it "not cool."

back on topic: I had a buddy find some good deals on some older case knives and an old but mint condition camillus becker!

I once bought an EXTREMELY rare small sebenza on evilbay... It was a "1 of 2" sm. reg. that made it through the milling process without getting the recess machined for the pocket clip... totally clipless sm. reg. It was a mistake that was never to be mentioned or resold... one went to an employee of CRK and the other went to a guy who just happened to be visiting the shop... the seller. He had totally crappy pics of a Classic Seb Photoshopped to have the clip missing... I got it for $200 BIN... I carried it for around two years and then evilbayed it again for $400.

I also scored a MINT Barry Wood folder for like $175 once!

An excellent point. I have had good an bad experience on ebay ove the years, but the good far outweighs the bad.
