I am a Boy Scout in Troop 106 and all my latest purchases have been Spydercos. My collection includes a fully-serrated S30V Military, a Chinook II, a Dragonfly, a Caly3, a Bob Lum tanto fixed blade, a titanium ATR (which I received from my Scout leader who's a family friend), and a Lil' Temperance (which I got on eBay for a sweet $100---the best deal I've ever seen). Their quality and performance is so amazing, and their designs are so good and ergonomic I open them and play with them constantly (well, when I'm not at school). I really put them to work and enjoy every minute of it.:D I just wanted to thank Spyderco and Mr. Glesser for making such a dependable, high quality product that has helped out and stood by me on all my Scouting adventures. I also wouldn't mind some recommendations on the next addition to my collection, if anybody could foster an opinion. Thanks, God bless, and merry Christmas!

I think I'm going to join the Boy Scouts LOL... Sounds like you have a great start on your collection.
Sal posted a thread here the other day, and it sounds like they are coming out with quite a few new models for 07.. Might also check out their Byrd line.
A lot of knife for the money.

ss30,
Nice collection, especially for some one so young :D . My son (a life scout) uses a BFC Native and recently is using my Blue 93mm rescue. With assortment you already have I would suggest a mini manix (or a large if you prefer). I like the flat grind for food prep and it is very solid. I also prefer the G10 to steel/Ti scales. If the size is too much, my personal all around EDC favorite is the Paramillie ( I have 2 custom ones). Large grip and the flat grind again.
I am also the Scoutmaster for my son's troop.
Good luck in your search.
Chris

steelscout:

Sweet start to your collection. Good to hear that many of them are users as well. My PE Lil' Temp is top of my list. I can't figure out how Spyderco will improve it, but I can't wait to see the Lil' Temp II if it ever materializes. That said, I think you should try to pick up a Dodo next since it's been discontinued. That is one heck of a box cutter. Get one before the prices skyrocket. You can still find them relatively cheap online. That Ti ATR must be sweet. Congrats on that one! Have a good holiday.

good for you steelscout, spyderco kicks major butt

btw, you got good taste as well, nice collection!

You have a nice collection going now but either a Mini-Manix or full sized Manix seems to be in order. I think the CE or PE in full size would make a great camp knife or the PE Mini-Manix if you want something a little more compact. Since you have the Lil' Temp now, go with the full sized Manix as the Mini is very close in size to the Lil Temp.

Here are a couple others to keep in mind, Stretch, DP D'allera, Jess Horn ZDP (great smaller knife, it is sort of like an extra pointy Delica 3), and the SE or CE Rescue.

The Rescue is the least expensive yet perhaps the most overlooked in the bunch. It has been around for so long that people forget about it I guess. What I like about it is, it has perhaps the most cutting edge for a knife it's size. It weighs almost nothing yet it is not a small knife. It can be considered a back-up type knife since it is so slim and light, you can carry a Rescue and a main knife. The Rescue is a great water knife. Most of the time, it is the only knife I carry when boating or doing anything around water. It has showed no signs of rust but I have not had it in salt water very much.

Look for the rescue in H1, coming to a store near you, heard it from Sal, not sure when.

X2. Most of what I cut in scouting was rope. Unfortunately two fellow scouts cut themselves with my knives that they borrowed so I'd definitely reccomend the sheepsfoot to keep yourself from having to deal with all the whining (and of course the cleaning associated with blood;) )
