Just a magnificent piece of hand-work....in the manner of the 'chip-inlay' technique for which the Navajo Native Americans are well-known.....

It is signed either ' HSS ' or ' SHH '. Not marked as to content, but almost certainly of 'coin' silver, or about .800....as is the typical material used for such pieces/work.

The cool frontiersman hunting a buck scene is, first, LET into the silver stock, THEN....small chips of various-colored turquoise, natural coral, and unidentified white, cream/ivory, tan and brown stone are painstakingly and masterfully inset in an epoxy to create the scene....!! Hand-engraving is used to outline all detail and to form a border. The integration of scene/theme/concept, shape and form of all elements...and the color and positioning of the chips is simply incredible, and all contributing individually to the integrated, final effect. The surface is, essentially, smooth-to-the-touch......

Has a bit of thickness, and heft.

- 3 5/8 x 2 5/8"

- Will accommodate belt width up to 1 1/2"

Likely a one-off, truly unique piece..... Not sure of the vintage, but of some age. The silver has just a bit of patination, keeping it from a bright & shiny look, and I wouldn't touch it.

I have included a number of photos, some taken using indoor/photographic lighting and some outside/natural daylight, to try and convey the in-person effect, which is better than the photos suggest......

Definitely something special, wearable art....and, an ultimate gift...IF you really think you could part with it once in-hand...!
