My No.1 shop for tools is Dictum. Their specialty is that you can test every single tool in the store even axes and saws.

When I came to that store first time I was testing all of their tools for 2 hours.

And a link to their page: http://www.mehr-als-werkzeug.de/page/homepage.htm

But those stores are only in Germany.

They send out a biannual book, so once every two years, with the stuff they sell not like those Lee Valley or Pro Woodworker companies sending out flyers and advertising every other week, and the last book has a very handsome looking broad axe on the cover. I'm just disappointed that they have gone a bit more corporate the last few years. It used to be so that Herr Rudolf Dick would pick up the phone when I called. Generally good quality products and super efficient in getting it to your door on time.

A store where you can test axes and saws? That's amazing. :)
So, instead of dressing rooms they have chopping and sawing rooms?

If I operated that store I'd bring my logs from home and make the customers split my wood. Haha.

That looks like quite a shop ! I could spend many, many hours in there. :D

No, they haven`t got any chopping rooms but in the right side of first picture you can see the big wood log with some branches (branches aren`t in picture). And you can test outdoor saws (they have got silky saws) on same branches as axes but they have no logs to split.

And their customer service is great! At every cutting tool you buy you get two free sharpenings and free handle fitting pass at axes.

Of their knives you can get McUsta knives, few lionsteels (no sr1:(), lots of traditional slipjoints and japanese cooking knives.

And their sharpening accessories are great! I once bought a 3$ soft mesh pad (custom knife maker recommended them) with 6000 grift and my knives got much much sharper.

There is just so much good to say about them, and I was there just once!

And alot of money because they mostly sell more expensive products.

Once they had a exclusive woodworking saw for 800$ (you can see it on the first picture under D in dictum sign).

Cool idea, and awseome store. Question.....

The tools ya get to try out....floor models? So if tried but not bought...next potential buyer doesn't get a used tool?

No they have got testing models that aren`t for sale (maybe you can buy them for lower price).
