amazon has fakes.

aliexpress.com is quite infamous and thankfully fairly incompetent.

yea but the stuff on amazon is the same thing and i bet a lot of people wouldnt know that it was fake. I mean i didnt even think it was fake at first until i looked into it.

Shame there were no reviews of this amazing knife. I was sure to be the first :)

Please explain for those of us less knowledgeable about the Spyderco Spin why this one is a fake. I'm not saying that it isn't, but am curious about what makes this one a fake.

I do know that Spyderco made an etched Spin that looks very similar to this one, but the Devil is in the details as they say...

the biggest give away is that box. But smaller ones are that there were known fakes of this knife, the tang is more pointed and the screws they used were flatter then the real spyderco screws. The real ones screws were more rounded.

When you get right down to it, to be able to tell if its a fake someone would have to order it and see. But it is way too convenient that its damn close to that one on ali express and thats 5 bucks.. the spyderco ones went for 90 and now their discontinued but he is selling for 15$.

Has anyone contacted Amazon to let them know that the item is counterfeit? Note that this is an item that Amazon is warehousing and distributing for the actual seller.

I inadvertently bought a set of counterfeit Sony headphones from a Amazon seller who was offering a "used" set. When the seller was contacted about their being counterfeit my money was returned immediately and the seller told me to keep the headphones.

Good info. Thank you.

You might consider using the links on the page to contact Amazon and let them know that AdOneGifts is selling fakes that are being fulfilled by Amazon. [Sold by AdOneGifts and Fulfilled by Amazon] Past experience with similar issues (copyright violations, books sold by other companies but fulfilled by Amazon) has shown me that Amazon acts fairly well in these circumstances. They are not 100%, but with the sheer volume of stuff that they sell, and considering that they fulfill orders for other companies as well (like here), it might be worth contacting them and letting them know. :)

i will contact them and let them know right now.

yeah, bladeforums doesn't want any links to counterfeits As much as it helps some people stay away, there are those who will click on the link to buy the fake.

I would suggest letting some one on the Spyderco subforum know.

I only report fakes when I am Sure they are a fake. If I have any question, I point the sales thread out to the manufacturer, so they can report it.

A good rule of thumb is that if the price seems way out of wack for a knife, it might be fake.

Not always true, as I have seen Original production knives sell for original prices (people just see the sales receipt or the original sticker, and list them at that price).

I have seen knives, and whole lots sold at 70-90% or less of current market price.

I don't know Spiderco very well, and don't own any. But those look off to me. The finish looks sloppy, and off.

Another hint..... If the steel listed does not match the steel marked on the blade. They copy the writing, but don't necessarily even know what the markings mean.

Your 2nd example, is listed as 420 steel, and ships from China, though it has Seki Japan and VG10 listed on the blade. Also, it is $19 for a lot of 5...................

I found a fake Emerson on Amazon once. Reported it via their link, received an email reply asking for more info, sent a further reply, received another email with the phone number of the customer service rep handling my case and a request to call, I called, spoke to her for a few minutes, and within 10 minutes of my hanging up the phone the listing was removed.

It's goos to know they are proactive with items reported. That is a much better follow through than eBay .
