What is the deal with AMAZON selling knives and shipping them????

So sometimes I find a decent deal on a Kershaw from Amazon and I get the....
"There's a problem shipping this to your Zip code" or something similar to that......
It's always a small folder like a Cyro or Leek or what ever.

They may be assisted or just a regular thumb stud.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason... .just that they won't ship them to me... I do live in NY but it is UPSTATE as in WAY UPSTATE about 15 miles from the MASS border..

I am fairly sure they are perfectly legal but maybe I am wrong (wouldn't be the first time ;) )

I am hoping someone can enlighten me and if there is a legitimate work around that'd be cool too...

I notices this the other day on ACK, they want me to fill out the auto form for any one hand opening knives and I live far further upstate than you do

NY Gravity knife laws probably as no way to ensure not running afoul of them with folders, they are so generic.

The first time I had a zip code problem with amazon it was a crossbow—but then I realized these were basically considered firearms in my state.

I'm in upstate NY as well and Amazon won't ship any locking knives to me either.
Nor will Spyderco, Bento Box Store.....etc etc...
The laws in NY are vague and stem from issues in NYC, sellers are just covering themselves, they must consider the rest of NY to be one big suburb...
NBD, I just use others from the list of supporting members here on Bladeforums.

They seem to have that on a lot of folders , and I don't think it has anything to do with location. I am in the same state(Florida) as them. I questioned them on it and all I got back was that the knife was sold. Doesn't make sense to me but likely is some lawyer thing to cover their butt.

Amazon is probably the worst "legit" place to buy knives. I say "legit" as from my understanding the majority of the issues with the legitimacy of the knives on Amazon is from sellers other than Amazon and from "swap" returns. Given the size and variety of products offered by Amazon the "swap" issue can never be eliminated entirely. The other sellers is a separate matter and I avoid as much as possible buy anything on Amazon, knives or otherwise, from them.

I'm glad its not location, I ordered from them last fall and didn't need to do fill out any additional forms then there was the all the down state drama and now they want a form CYA makes sense I guess.

No problem with buying knives from Amazon in the UK, But i cannot buy ANY hunting or sport type knives from eBay since the UK government complained about knife imports from the US, This has been going on for years.

wow that's a response.....
looks like there's not much to do about it.....
no hate toward the city it's fun to visit there and all but all those F-N rules get pushed on me and every other upstater.
can we get our own state?

.grrrrrrrr.

New York City and the NY State has been so anti both firearms and knives, i can understand why Amazon is fearful of shipping knives to their zip codes.
