I have a nice custom with stag. The stag is just so so. Is it possible to have the stag dyed while on the knife?

Not commercially.
The amber dyeing is a proprietary process. You can dye the stag yourself, using potassium permanganate.

Thanks Bill....where would I get that stuff.....is it just a matter of applying and maybe buffing?

Potassium permanganate. Used on wounds or as a water treatment to drink. It is purple granules that I have mixed with water to apply to powder horns. Seems to work better in the sun. You can get it from a pool company, pharmacy, or maybe an aquarium shop. You can also mix it with glycerin and after a while it will begin to smoke and burn. Just another way to start a fire that is not talked about much.

Apply it where you want to dye. You can use multiple applications to darken. It's purple at first, but dries to brown. Keep it away from metal parts, because it's an oxidizer. Mix it as strong as you can, and apply with a q tip. I like to seal the lower areas of the stag with clear lacquer before buffing. Paste wax when finished.
