Amber Stag Full Tang Hunter

Joe I'm afraid there is a bit of a difference between supplying a few selected pieces to a couple of knife makers and a whole container. I'm a knifemaker with a keen interest in hunting and can get some stag , that's about it. To get a container load you would need to get someone over there in Gippsland Vic or in southern NSW who is prepared to source the stag and then put together a consignment for you. If this person was to advertise that they are willing to pay money for the Stag then there would be plenty of people willing to sell it as there isn't really a market for it here. You would need to have an agent to grade it otherwise hunters would send in any old cast rubbish expecting to get paid. There is definitely potential to source really good stag here, there are some hunters with sheds full of it, and I have seen plenty of popcorn and naturally colored amber stag from Australian sambar deer.
You might be able to contact Daniel Burke at the Wild Deer Australia magazine, he has a huge amount of contacts and might be able to help you out. Sambar are counted as a game species in most places but are also counted as feral in some, so they are definitely not counted as endangered or protected so there shouldn't be any trouble importing , exporting it.
Cheers Adam. ps . sorry for high jacking your thread Pete but I'm too cheep to be able to Pm folks here.
