I have seen a fair amount of amber stag and i like it because, at a minumum, if gives a more interesting look to the portions of the handle where you had to sand it down. I have also seen a number of comments from collectors saying that they really like it. I have heard that it is usually done with some noxious chemical, but I have also read that it can be done with tea. What is the best way to get that color and WHEN do you dye it? after is has been sanded to it's final shape?

We have Culpepper dye our sambar stag amber. They do an excellent job.

Oil (dye) will weep from the stag for a few months. Plan to let the stag sit when sending it in to be dyed.
