This Amboyna Burl, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, is special old growth wood that comes exclusively from the jungles of Burma (Myanmar) and immediate area. It is difficult to get and expensive but well worth the extra cost. It is very stable, hard, dense, and heavy wood. It is chatoyant with rich colors. It is easy to work and polishes like a dream. It does not require plastic or acrylic pre-stabilization to last generations in service - a good oil and wax finish is all that is needed to protect and bring out the beauty of this wood.

This wood is completely dry - it was cut over twenty years ago. I believe that drying the wood, no matter how long it takes, is the responsibility of the seller - NOT the buyer.

Although the following blocks are not the final statement in pin intensity they are very nice, deep red in color (Dragons blood), and the swirling grain is variegated and quite beautiful. They are priced accordingly.

Shipping is just $5.95 (USA) for any quantity ($9.95 CA/$15.95 International) up to USPS Flat Rate Envelope size. Items are available on a first come first serve basis: If an item is already sold to another buyer, or otherwise unavailable, payment will be refunded. The pictures are of the actual items you will receive. They are shown dry / not wetted.

That is some pretty wood, but like the poster above, I need some that is 1-3/4" wide. Please let me know if you have any with a little extra width. Thanks,
ricsha

Thank for your kind words and interest in the wood. I try to get the most and best size that I can out of each piece but the burl always dictates yield. I will shoot for larger sizes, however, and will post when available... Kully

Kully,

I'll take that last one,6708, and like Nick, if you get any wider blocks, be sure and post.

Thanks,

John

Kully,

This block, and the ones I ordered from your website all came today. This is the nicest amboyna i've seen.

Thanks,

John
