American Felling Axe From Northern Europe

Welcome to the forum John, you do amazing work. That is a beautiful looking tool. Is the rockwell really 60?

Best regards

Robin

Hi Robin. Yes the hardness varies from 59-60 (HRC). For an axe it is enough. It is possible to get more HRC, but for axe it is not necessary as axe blade needs to be strong on hits on hard branches. For our chisels, slicks and drawknives we have 64-65 Rockwell (HRC). So do some models of our knives will have similar hardness.

That is absolutely gorgeous!

I have been waiting patiently for neemantools.com to open up again. It says the website is under construction.

Our site have not been up ever. "Under construction" means that it is in the construction stage. I hope we will open it at the beginning of an April.

"Hand forged traditional American Felling axe".

Does this mean it has convex cheeks, high center line? It is hard see the profile from the photos posted.
What makes it an American Style? Quite interested to know.

Also the weight of 4.4 lbs. Does that include the handle?
Is the head weight over 3lbs?

thanks

4.4 LBS is overall weight including handle. We did a research on American Felling Axes, so we decided to make similar to the one Finns were making about 200 years ago. Handle design is been copied from old American lumberjack handle drawings. So I believe Finns knew what they are making if they wrote that it is traditional American Felling Axe. Most of the felling axes has convex cheeks, so does American Felling Axe has. High center line is just where the polished surface meets the forged pattern.

I find myself returning here just to take in the beauty of that axe over and over.
I am looking forward to getting mine....in two months...I'm pretty sure it will be worth the wait :)
Not many thing I get excited about waiting for now day, but this one I am.
and I don't know if I'm suppose to tell you the cost is $210 plus shipping, so if I'm not suppose to say..never mind, you didn't hear it from me! ;)

WOW! Outstanding work! I like the shape and the handle (it would be a little bit too thin for me, but that would be ok).

The axehead is absolutelly amazing. The smitty´s marks are nice to see. Man, what a beauty!

Congratz to that great work!

Kind regards
