I have been a subscriber for many, many years now, and I have to say its my favorite handgun magazine. The newest issue is pretty much the same, except the 1911 (greatest handgun ever) turns 100 this year, (not really, it was a 100 last year, but, whatever:D), and the contest this edition includes, a Custom 1911, BM741, an Izula, and some EOTAC clothing.

The Izula is what caught my attention, mostly, because I have never seen an ESEE knife in AH before, and I thought it was pretty cool that Izula made it to the "custom carry giveaway".

Just wanted to share.

Actually wasn't it 1908 and it wasn't adopted until 1911? :D

Go Izula.

The first Proto of what we call the 1911 was sent to the DOD and Springfiels Armory in 1910 to begin production. Springfield still has it in a case in their museum. Stunning, it still has hammer and tool marks on it from when JMB made it.

The foundation was laid in 1908 with the, heh, Model 1908, but was reengineered for 2 years of DOD suggestions into what we see today. Loves me some 1911.

Ha ha! This makes me want to grab my 1911, my Izula, and a camera to start the "Let's show off our 1911s and Izulas" thread! :D

Damned shitty economy, I have had my eyes on a springfield loaded for 1 year now, and still dont own it. I digress.....

I need to get me a 1911.

I've always wanted one just never went and picked one up, why I don't know....

My favorite ride. I like 'em Colt and I like 'em old, but accurized.

Moose, whats the contest?

Send in a little slip of paper, with your contact info on. They even supply the paper, but you got to supply the pen. They have one every edition.

I have to agree that the 1911 is the greatest handgun ever made. It's one of those things that was just made perfect the first time.

I sure would like a Springfield Lightweight Champion 4" for CC!

Ha ha! Not necessarily true!

Maybe if it's a Kimber. :p

Ouch, that is a <DING> right there. I like old Colts, and Spingers. To be honest, for the money, if you can find an old Ballester Molina in a pawnshop or show, you can get them for around $250, and is actually what JMB thought was the perfect combat side arm.

New makers enjoy the rave of nifty add ons and enhancements, but I like mine plain jane. There have been some nifty companies out there making 1911's, one that comes to mind that strikes me as a bargain is the SA GI, and Milspec, the Auto Ordanance, is a good in the door version if there ever was one.

Feel free to pay whatever you want for your 1911, they are out there and they can run close to $3000 for some of the new hyper 1911s.

Haha! I kid I kid. Although I would take an SA Mil Spec or GI model any day over a high dollar Kimber. They can be had for $4-$600. I hear Rock Island makes decent milspec 1911's too in the $400 range.

I found a used super clean safe queen Lightweight Champion with night sights for $650. Had me drooling.

I like to keep things simple myself.

I actually know a lot of people who like their Kimbers and have had minimal issues. Every manufacturer is going to have some bad apples. I just couldn't pay that much for a handgun. All I want is accuracy, a decent trigger and that it goes bang every time.

You'll be seeing alot more of our knives in AH in the coming months, the Mrs. and I sent a ton of goods off to their marketing department.

Good, AH is a good publication, with a good fan base. Jeff reminds me of Roy, mainly because they started the "Whinery", the place where people bitch about women wearing bikini's selling guns and "Too many 1911 articles". Roy just makes fun of them and tells them to buy another magazine.

ESEE and AH will make a good fit. Glad to hear it.

Hmmm. One mag I'm not subscribing to. May have to hop on this.

I do enjoy my 1911's. Got a Colt Series 70 and a couple of Springfields. Love tinkering with them and upgrading parts. One gun I know inside and out for sure. Still a very effective handgun design after all these years. And quite frankly, most "modern" semi-autos probably owe their very existence to the 1911.

Its the '57 Chevy of the handgun world. All you need to work on it, is a timing light, screwdriver and a socket set.:D

I feel ya on that brother, I accurize and upgrade them to boot. Loves me some 1911.

I get a lot of parts from Cylinder and Slide, probably the best 1911 parts out there. Just all old fashioned forged steel baby!

If you don't know them, here's a link.

Other than that, I really like some of the bits and pieces Ed Brown offers, I've had nothing but good results with their parts.
