American kami!!!

The fit and finish seem exceptional, but the designs scream "mall ninja" to me, and I despise chisel grinds with the white hot fire of a thousand burning suns.

I just don't see myself spending hundreds of dollars for 1095 chisel ground knives, no matter how original the designs, or how perfect the fit and finish.

I'm sure he's a nice guy who makes a quality product, but the knives just do absolutely nothing for me. If you're a chisel grind fanatic like lycosa, they are probably your dream knives :p

Just to point out, these knives have to be held to understand how ergonomic and "un-mall ninja-like" they really are.

His heat treat is a masterpiece as well.

You're right about him being a nice guy, he's frigging awesome.

If I sound like an AK fanatic, it's because he is - by a mile - my favorite knife maker.

any chance he would do one with a standard double-bevel grind? i'm guessing it'd up the price significantly.

His designs are striking, and the workmanship appears to be flawless. I hate the chisel edge he puts on everything though. I would have ordered from him long ago if it weren't for that.

+1, for such a visually appealing knife brand, it is disappointing to turn each one of these pieces over and see the flat "other" side of the blade. I just don't like chisel grind for that reason...makes me think they are designed to be hung against the wall for display

DJ Urbanovsky right on!!!!!! Just got my Prototype Chopper yesterday and I LOVE it!!!!!!

I like his "mean Bean" impact tool. I wonder If I could get him to do me one of steel/brass instead of titanium?

note: Most of his knives are not "hundreds of dollars" they are surprisingly affordable. An AK + Krein Grind would cost way less than a basic strider.

I'm pretty sure those folders were only available at Blade Show and there were only a handful of them. They look beastly though.

at least four were listed at arizona custom knives awhile back..i regret not jumping on that! i believe the listing said only ten were made, figured its a good chance someone on here nabbed one.

I was suppose to have one of his blade but I'm how should put it gently... an idiot. Anyway I can appreciate the CG, and the guy seems to offer a good warranty. If I wasn't blowing my cash on Busse's I'd have a few of his blades.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Everything I make is built to be used. Even ridiculous stuff like the SICKels.

Up until about two years ago my handles had the aggressive points. I never had a problem with them and liked the extra traction, but some guys said they were too harsh. And then Kit Carson gave me some feedback when I handed him one of my knives for notes. He rubbed his finger across those points on the G10 and said "OuchOuchOuch. You have to knock these down." So now I do.

:D

Now that I've actually clicked on the website I'm even more impressed. The prices strike me as reasonable. Kami knives remind me a little of Szabo knives but those cost more than I care to spend.
The Canadian dollar is virtually at par right now so I'm tempted. I guess the only downside is that [ if I read it right] I'd have to wait a year for the knife.

Your skullnuks, do they fit small hands? How many versions are there for sale?

Back to topic. Regarding your chisel grinds, my only problem is I'm worried it'll sort of 'not cut straight' because of the chisel, do you do symmetrical grinds at all?

Like the style, very cool looking and looks like it'll last.

whether or not your taste in knives is'nt this rad, one really has to appreciate the great impressive grind lines. fantastic metal sculpture.

The CG is misunderstood. DJ knows what his knives are going to be used for. If you want a utility blade, go V grind.
