American Kensei Battle Grade!

Is the blade width of the AK less than that of the Rucki? Published specs seem to indicat that it is so @ 1.25" AK vs 1.5" Rucki

Darn it, I compared it to the Waki. And the Waki is indeed wider. And I believe the Rucki is the same.

And while I was taking that lame cell phone picture, SpyderPhreak dug up something I'd posted a long time ago:

In with the "Has a choil and thumb ramp so you can choke up for fine work!"
When I got my first Bussekin, a Rucki, I would say this to people I showed it to and they almost always gave me a look like, "Are you stupid or just insane?" Haha

Here's a good one from an old sales thread by Deukster that shows all three pretty well. The AK looks like the same width as the Rucki. edit: Nevermind. I just measured mine; my Waki and both Ruckis all measure 1.375" (1 3/8") at the base where the edge starts, and taper similarly, narrowing down to 1.1875" (1 3/16") at 8" down the blade.

They're pretty close, but the Waki and Rucki are definitely wider. I confirmed that when I got them out to take that crappy cell phone picture (the AK and Waki on the green medical chest).

How's this 101 compare to INFI?
With Busse's heat treatment of either steel, your hand won't know the difference and neither will the targets... but your wallet will. ;)

Check my edit. Yeah, the Waki and Rucki are the same, so the AK is slightly narrower (1/8"?).

How's this 101 compare to INFI?

Not as corrosion resistant. Takes a keener edge, and IMO, holds it longer. Still extremely tough, but not quite as tough as INFI. SR-101 is very similar to (but slightly better than) 52100.

Don't think too hard about it, these are going to move REALLY fast. Act NOW or there is a good chance at missing out on this unprecedented deal.

INFI has much higher corrosion resistance. Otherwise, from what I've read, SR-101 gives INFI a run for its money. I haven't noticed a difference as far as edge holding goes, and I've never broken or damaged either an INFI or SR-101 blade, so I don't know how much abuse it would take to see the difference. Maybe Cobalt or someone else with some real metallurgical knowledge will weigh in with better information.

Thanks for posting those pics guys!
Some of the best comparison pics I've seen,
gives me a feeling of reassurance knowing I wanted a longer blade and handle.

The AKs are full convex right?

Hmm I thought the AK was a few inches longer than the waki. Doesn't look like it's that much different

Does anybody have a picture of anything with tan canvas and tanker grey? I'd love a reference. Doesn't have to be an AK, or even a sword.

It really isn't necessary to ask the same question in multpile threads. I already responded to your other one. ;)

I asked here first and then realized the picture request thread would be more appropriate. Not like an extra post is gonna eat up bandwidth when the announcement thread already has over 10 pages ;)

Does anybody know how much these weigh? I use my Rodent Rucki for camping and when I'm out hunting, building shelters and hunting blinds and wind blocks for wolf hunting. It works great for cutting down Christmas tree sized spruce trees and it only takes one swing down each side to take off all the boughs,up here in Alaska we like "high impact camping" and because I don't like to kneel or sleep on the snow ;)

Check out the Busse specs and pricing thread here, the INFI version is listed there.

It's 31 oz. I doubt this Battle Grade variant weighs much different.

Sounds like an excellent way to use a BGAK! It may be a little heavier than the rucki but I bet that extra weight is balanced out with better performance
