American lawman or recon 1

So I'm looking to get my first CS with triad lock. Can't decide on American lawman or recon 1. I really like the blade shape of the al but like the handle shape of the recon 1 . Will be used as work knife and outdoors bumming and hunting tasks. And to be honest I do like a using knives to destroy stuff. lol. I no I no.... But it's true :) 🔪🔪🔪 what do you guys like better of these 2
 
If size isn't an issue, and for outdoor use, I would go Recon. It is my hiking folder. The lawman is great, and I love it for edc, but the slim handle, while more pocketable, is not as comfy as the Recon. I own both and they are both great, so you can't go wrong either way.
 
Lol. I couldn't take it. I just ordered a lawman. Lol. That blade shape just speaks to me. Now I gotta wait :(

JK Lawman is a great knife, especially for pure utility and everyday work. I have 3 of them from different generations -- Even the original steel lined model, which is my favorite of the lot.

I'll just say why I love the Recon 1. First of all the way the handle is oriented, your fingers, even when you put your thumb on the rest does not come into contact with the blade. And the handle choil gives you a near 5 inches of reach on a 4 inch blade, giving it that real blade forward design, making it excellent for self defense. Not to mention the ease of changing grips in mid motion also offers consideration in this act. And the unspeakable (lol) comfort in any of the grips: Handshake, reverse handshake, hammer, reverse hammer. I say it is the flagship folder of Cold Steel's line. I say this because it covers the utility role, EDC (barring local laws) and tactical purpose. By tactical, I mean tactics as in the way you can maneuver the knife and the ease of doing so, handle ergonomics and material.

Shout out: AK-47 I would say is in 2nd place, despite being stronger than the Recon, at least I feel (judging by the time it took for me to break in its Tri-Ad lock compared to the Recon, idk lol). And bonus it has a shorter blade that would be more acceptable in an EDC role. With the impact device on the end of the handle, it gives you more options in a defensive or a... uh... utilitarian... smashing... role?

I own both and I think you made the right choice. I carry and use the American Lawman more often, especially for the tasks you describe.

For your purposes, I'd recommend the Talwar. It will give you similar belly to the AL, but the size, and similarish handle to the Recon 1.

And the swedge is like a bone breaker.
 
Got my al today!!! I love the ergos and everything so far. I will post pics later tonight.
 
Aweeee and I will be ordering a code 4 this week!!! Yeah instant fan boy. lol. I hear how some don't like the thin ness of the knife but I love how easy and discrete this beefy folder feels in pocket. Wish I took the plunge earlier. It's not fancy or even a good looking knife but it feels perfect and the blade shape is spot on for me.
 
I do love the blade shape on the hest also. Very similar but ergos and thinness go to American lawman
 
Great choice. The g10 is better on the Lawman. In some ways the AL rivals the PM2 as the best edc on the market. Plenty strong to use outdoors. I just wish they were available w/o the black blade.
 
You can't go wrong with either. They're differently sized, so you have a folder to fit all occasions. ;)

I, too, wish I could get an AL without the blackened blade.
 
Now I need a demko hand made!!! I wore beabke to sleep till then. Lol
