Does the American Lawman have steel liners (a vid I saw mentions it does not). Just want to confirm.

Nope

Thank you….how do you like yours?
Got it only this week as a present, but I'm enjoying it so far. I had one of the old Mini Lawman years ago and hated everything about it. That knife kept me from buying any Cold Steel at all for a long time, nevermind another named Lawman. This is a totally different story from that one though. Quality is excellent, and I like how it feels both hand back and using the choil. I'm not a big choil fan actually, but I actually like using this one. It feels more hand filling choked up. Not having jimping makes it way more useful when cutting holding back too since there is no worry of the jimping snagging what you're cutting.

I have an older one in XHP, but it's the same design and dimensions. Very slim and comfy in-hand and very solid. Opens/closes smoothly. If you're asking about the lack of liners due to concerns of strength, it seems to be a non-issue. A well-known youtuber tried to break the blade out of an all-G-10 handle a few years ago and just ended up snapping the blade, but the handles and pivot area of the blade were fine. 😄

edit:

Here's mine:

Thanks for the detailed replies! Yeah, was concerned about the strength since there are no liners. I may just get one…a couple of reviewers thought it may be as close as you can get to being the perfect edc blade.

I need to pick up another one as I gave mine to my son. I never got to use it, but it did seem like a nice size folder to EDC.

I was trying to decide between an American Lawman or the Code 4. The Lawman almost has a “boring” look to it…”low key” is a great description as stated above. But it’s really growing on me. I kind of see it as the little brother of the AD-10. The Code 4 seems almost indestructible since it’s mostly aluminum, but ergos look much better on Lawman.

The Lawman might be the best edc folder on the market. Like a smaller version of another CS classic, the Recon 1. Great as a heavy use work knife. More ergonomic than the Code 4. Very strong. Very slicy.

The Lawman has pushed the PM2 into second place on my list of favorite edc s.

I just noticed earlier this week on a non sponsor site where the Lawman can be bought on sale for 78.00. It s in the midway point of the country. I m tempted to buy another backup.

The Lawman is undoubtedly a great folder. As I insta9ves mentioned, the previous generation scales were thicker, a bit more aggressive G10, and more comfortable in extended use. The hollow grind was nice too.

Now they are skinnier and FFG, which is not bad by any means, but the performance IMO is diminished a touch.

It does carry much better now though.

I never held the older model, but the thinness of the handle makes the AL very easy to carry. And I don t have any problem working with it. I really like the ergonomics.

The liners were removed but the handle stayed as thick, just solid g10. This is to reduce weight because it’s found that the linerless handle is still very strong. Demko had a test video where he stood on the linerless knife lying on the side between 2 bricks and it held.
In 2015 they thinned down the linerless handle further with the introduction of the XHP blade. This IMO is a bad change, because I started observing slightly warped handle(i have had 8-9 lawmen since 2010). To this day, i still wish they used the thick scale but with fine texture like the latest version of recon 1.
