American Lawman... Wow.

I absolutely agree. I think this is a great beater knife that allows plenty of room for personalization. I bent the clip on mine to be a bit less aggressive, and sanded down the G10 so it wouldn't shred my pockets. Next job is scouring the coating off, and I'll have one handsome and cheap hard-use knife.

I like the AL, but I wish it had a little more tip strength. It might make a good candidate for a reblade.

230Grains; did you remove the blade to sand it? I am thinking of doing this to my Recon 1 and Aus 8 SRK as well. Not a fan of the CS's coatings really.

I had planned on it, but in the end got lazy and didn't bother taking it apart. The only thing I removed was the thumbstud. I got the parts closest to the handles with a key.

I was surprised with how sharp the knife was out of the box for the price tag as well, every knife I own will split free hanging hair so it wasn't quite up to par but I could have gotten a couple weeks of use out of the stock edge if I needed to. I figured I was stripping it anyway so I may as well reprofile it as well. I'm going to estimate about 15 degrees per side on it. It's a laser now.

I owned the original lawman a few years back. Not only was it built like a tank but was almost as heavy as one. lol! I need to give the all G-10 model a chance. It looks much improved. Nice XD too.

The linerless model is great, quite light for was it is. I'm holding mine now in fact. I really like the blade shape plus there's nothing quite like the sound of that lock snapping shut. Sounds like a steel trap.

I bought an AK-47 here to see what they were like. I really liked the handle ergos and the blade shape but the clip was ridiculously tight.

For the price though, it was a LOT of knife.....

"I like the smooth black coating "

OK, CS states it's Teflon, but I don't think it is. I have a Teflon coated Kershaw Outcast and it really looks/feels like the slippery Teflon that comes in frying pans. Not to mention it's way more durable that the paint-like coatings CS uses. I've whacked the Outcast through all sorts of crap, batoning it and the like and the coating has only shown minor wear. But the coating on my CS AK47 looked like crap over a few months of EDC'ing it. I stripped mine with a Vic SAk:

That Lawman looks great BTW, good job on th edge.

Whats funny is, after carrying it a while, my opinion has changed. The blade will simply not hold an edge worth a damn with anything but an obtuse cutting edge. I'm back to hating aus 8.

Really? I believe you but I had the exact opposite experience.

I was quite happy and surprised with the edge holding of my American lawman. It sports a polished edge at 36 degrees inclusive from the edge pro. In my own non scientific but very practical cutting tests my AL with aus8 performed on par or a tiny bit better than my manix 2 with 154cm. Also the one thing I really love about aus8 is that after those cutting tests it took around 6 swipes on the UF rods of a sharpmaker and a couple of passes on the strop to have it back to hair whittling sharp. The manix 2 didn't do that.
