AMERICAN MADE camping axe?

I had to take some pics for another thread - here is that medium Plumb Hudson Bay style one cleaned up a bit (still not done filing the edge though):

I just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased a Council Tool Hudson Camp Axe...and it's garbage. I used it for the first time today, and after processing a 10in diameter log into four 2-foot long sections, the head as begun to slip off of the handle. I'm calling Council Tool on Monday about their inferior product.

VINTAGE or COUNCIL TOOL...

Estwing's ARE NOT AXES...!!!

They are a bar with a POS blunted edge on the end :pissed:

Fiskers is a POS piece of plastic. Same as the Gerber's...

Get a real axe fellows... I just can't take this anymore...

LOL! Really its not funny. They can take a lot of abuse. So there's that.
I have a friend that made the mistake of telling me how he loved his estwing campers axe. Not no more.
Friends don't let friends swing estwings.

Has nobody in this thread mentioned the Council Velvicut line? Better steel, better handles, no enamel on the head....

That is the drawback with Hudson Bay style axes. The short eyes make for a weak connection. They're really made more for bushcrafting than serious chopping.

I wouldn't say that your axe was an "inferior product" nor defective. It just wasn't the right tool for the job. A boy's axe would fair better.

Like others have said that is the draw back of the hb, council will fix it or you can fix it your self by drive the head feather on the haft and leaving a half inch or so on top with a new wedge.
Also like others have said the hb is not the best chopper or spliter council tools boys axe is much better.
