AmericanAirlines: "knife as checked baggage only."

I've numerously asked the security personnel at the airport about the limitations on the knives allowed. The most common answer is that it has to be a folder with a NON-SERRATED blade less than 4" in length.
I usually take a Spyderco Native with me and it goes through just fine.
