Ammo casing questions

I'm well aware, I've loaded for some time. These loading have been around for decades though, so I think I'll be ok.

+P+ hasn't been around decades. I've handloaded for decades. No way would I go down the +P+ road, and I'd certainly never buy anyone's load advertised as +P+ since, by definition, there are no standards. At that point I'd recommend magnum cartridges which do have standards and firearms designed for them.

All good information here IMHO.

As far as choosing which case material I'll use (which is basically finding an excuse to buy cheap loads) it depends on which guns I will be shooting and for what purpose. As someone mentioned above, I wouldn't put my life in the hands of anything except brass. When shooting .45, it is out of a S&W 1911 and brass is the only thing it likes. However, with my Glock 19, I can feed it ANYTHING and I have never had a problem with thousands and thousands of rounds I have put through it whereas my buddy's Beretta is a nicer gun, but it doesn't like the cheap stuff just like my 1911.

Technically, UZI SMG ammo isn't marked +P+ but, it too is well above NATO spec. In the 80's you could buy it a case at a time from IWI.
And didn't it come with the caveat, "Not for use in pistols" and/or "For Submachine Gun Only" (often right on the boxes themselves)? Much did.

Head stamps were "L7A1", "L18A1", or "9MM CARB." Packaging labeled "FOR SUBMACHINE GUNS", "FOR UZI", or "NOT FOR PISTOLS". If the pistol holds up, the lugs and such will likely begin to peen has the pistol is battered well beyond what it was designed for. Why risk it for ammo not designed for pistols to begin with when there are plenty of great 9mm loads already out there on the shelves?
