Talked with a Fedex man today and he said they have been booked delivering ammo to individual customers. This economy and government situation has people really scared and they're buying up ammo and guns from what I hear. Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm preparing and hope everyone out there is as well. Keep your networks close and make preparations is what I say.

And whatever the f*%k you guys do, don't get into a damn argument about politics on this thread. I'm interested in getting feedback and thoughts about what the future holds, and what you're doing to prepare, not who's to freakin' blame for it all. So, children with temper tantrums need to close their browser now and read no further. If this thing goes political and turns into a fight we'll shut it down and you guys can just email me and we will carry on our survival strategies in private. :D

I posted this on another forum..
http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm#MO

Below is an excerpt of the Act

Section 3. Prohibition on possession or sale of non-coded ammunition.
1. All handgun and assault weapon ammunition manufactured or sold in the state after
January 1, 2009, shall be coded by the manufacturer.
a. The calibers covered by the coding requirement shall include:[LIST
CALIBERS].
2. No later than January 1, 2011, all non-coded ammunition for the calibers listed in this
chapter, whether owned by private citizens or retail outlets, must be disposed.

I think we're in for a few surprises over the next four years. I think that the possibility of another terrorist attack or major US war, think WWIII, is highly probable (terrorist attack is more probable than anything IMO). Too many countries are getting short tempered with each other. Along with many major countries, US, China, Russia, being extremely weak right now due to the global economy it is the ideal time to make a move against someone if your are going to do it. I see Obama as a weak link for our country, he has already mentioned cutting defense spending by 25%, defense spending is historically 4% of GDP (GDP is around $14 trillion), this would reduce our defense spending by 3.5 trillion dollars, which in my opinion could really have a severe effect on our country.

Ammo a very hot item at the Silverado Gun Show in Frederick, MD last weekend. One vendor with huge stock of ammo, was completely sold out by 1 PM, and on the way back to NJ Sunday morning.

Show was total "rock & roll" all weekend, with gun sales strong both days.

Knife vendors didn't do bad either. :D

I went to blackwing shooting center today after school, its probly the nicest range in the state and is very clean and well stocked.
One of the guys that run the place told me that they were running out of ar-15's and .223 to sell.

I've bought two more firearms in the last two weeks to go along with my other firearms. I've also been buying ammo as well.

And knives. I'm always buying knives.:)

I seem to remember a simular increase in sales of rifles, pistols, shotguns and ammunition back in the fall and winter of 1992-93. I wonder if there is any connection between the two spikes in sales?

Good ammunition has a long shelf life if stored right. Those surplussed ammo boxes with good rubber seals and a packet or two of dissicant from computer boxes come in handy for this, and are designed to be stacked, portable but easily secured. Were there runs on these boxes at the gun shows? Most gun shows I have been to have piles of them, priced from $2-$8 depending on size and condition.

Codger

Im just hoping we don't end up like Russia or Britan where you can't own a firearm, or even worse still London where you can't own a pocket knife

I found site that sales ammo at a great price..need to back off the knives for a bit to score a 357 wagon wheel and more ammo for all my firearms. I have notice a price spike in AR's and similar guns & Ak's & SKS... I wanted a Socom from Springfield but that ain't happening,I guess I can keep dreaming of a Galil as well

I have been tring to stock up since last year. Only problem is i love to shoot as much as nearly anything else. So i shoot 3/4 of what I buy no matter how hard I try not to. I need more self dicipline or alot more money. So far i have only been able to stockpile around:

.223 750rds
.45 acp 1000rds
7.62X39 500rds
9mm 300rds
12 guage 500rds
.22lr 2500rds
30-06 200rds
308 100rds
200-300rds of misc stuff like .357 .38 ect.

IMHO, in light of the past year's revelations about internet postings being used in court cases, even when not directly related, I don't really think it wise to list posessions online. YMMV. ;)

I have a whole BOB set up with an RC4 inside. I have food water basic supplies trying to keep the bag light also. I really haven't changed anything i have. I also have a Sig 556 with 20 loaded 30 round mags. And an extra 1000 rounds for it. Also have a mossberg 590 with about 500 rounds. I personally think everyone is over reacting right now. As i said i haven't changed anything i noramally keep all of this as i believe in always being prepared.

Tonight's NBC news broadcast covered the current spike in ammo and gun purchases and it isn't a spotty issue. People are going nuts buying both and I've encountered sold out places that hardly ever sell out. I hope that everything settles down soon so I can score more ammo.

Did NBC give a reason for the spike?

If there is another Ban their will probably not be a sunset like with the last one . As far as the home goes, I would say stocking Food, Ammo, Medical, Supplies, ETC. would be a good idea after all it is turbulent times that we live in you never know.. From week to week what is going to happen. think of it as a insurance policy.. Worse case Scenario, If all hell brake loose it probably want do you much good to have everything in your house (guns that is ). Say the economy collapses (civil unrest) or theirs an outright ban on firearms and confiscations occur or lets say we are hit again and marshal law is declared. Or we are possibly attacked by killer rabbits happened in the Holly Grail :D. If this is the case.. The best thing you can do is buy a couple of the burial tubes from cheaper than dirt or Pvc and couple of AR15’s 500 rounds of ammo for each, magazines, LBE, and other necessary gear and put it all in ALOKSAK s and bury it all in the ground, preferably not on your property. This way you will have gear if you have to E&E… Having a Gear Cache is not a bad idea.. Also have a RP for you and your family just in case you cant get home. Some people I know have already secured retreats way up in the mountains, not me don’t have that kind of money. I don’t think its going to get that bad but, What’s the saying, I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. It’s always best to prepared for the worst and hope for the best..

Tony, I wouldn’t mind a SOCOM myself that’s a Bad looking riffle. A Galil would be nice as well..

I've been trying to stock up a little extra when I can. I have a few rounds ready to be reloaded. My next major purchase will be a reloader. nothing to expensive, just something that works. Getting some extra powder and primmers next weekend I hope.

well my family has been stocked up on water, MRE's, medical supplies and all the other necessities ever since 9/11 (my dad was in NYC). The problem is, my mom hates guns, but also tells everyone what we have. so when the day comes, we may be faced with people demanding supplies who DO have guns. I don't know how to convince her to buy one, or two, or three....

I do know that the next few years will be tough on people. I live in a fairly well off area in Southern California which is surrounded by cities where the populace is less wealthy. Our police department is already on high alert as the number of break-ins is steadily rising. from what they tell us, the robberies are committed by people who are from the less wealthy areas looking for money. For example, my neighbors car was broken into last week and all the robbers took was change. That made me realize how desperate some people really are.

we're in for a bumpy ride, and i wish everyone the best

I am very concerned about this. This only seems to be the beginning. I hope what I have been hearing is wrong, but nobody seems to think the future is bright. My main concern is total confiscation of guns. If this happens I feel like we will all be screwed. Part of my mind tells me buy as much as I can afford now, and another part is thinking worst case scenario, where everything we own is confiscated. If this happens, the worst part is losing our guns. The second part is that no one will be given propper riembusment for what they have spent on their guns. Everyone will take a big loss. I know this may sound a little far fetched, but nothing would surprise me with the decision makers this country has now.

Does anyone else fear confiscation, or am I overreacting?

Figure out why she hates them and show her statistics and iformation about gun safety and try to educate her, or maybe buy her a .22 and take her some place where she can shoot it to where she no longer feels scared to handle one.
