Ammunition Availability

I stopped by a gun shop about 30 miles away, and found a lot of import 9mm and .45 ACP ammo; $15 and $22 a box. There was also a decent amount of .223/5.56. Still no .22 ammo. The Walmart here only has odd rifle calibers.

Availability will increase, and prices will return to normal eventually.

A lot of prices will stay the same, a lot of American manufacturers took a 5-15% price increase on ammo (which they regularly annually do). Federal on their .22 and 5.56 bulk increased 15% over last year. 9, 40, 45 took about an 8-10% increase.

Remington raised 5% across the board this year (if I remember right it was 3% last year). Hornady did a 2-8% if I remember right too.

A lot of the foreign stuff didn't change much, PMC and PPU weren't asshats like Century was and jacked the price on their products only to lower them back to normal recently.

Ammo today will be cheaper than it is tomorrow, but won't be cheaper than it was yesterday. It's a commodity that companies realize that people will buy no matter the price. Hell people were paying $1000 for 1000 rounds of 5.56 just 6 months ago, and look now, you can find it from $9.99-$12.99 per box fairly easy now

I got tired of the nonsense and quit shooting for now. I got a compound bow and a target and shoot the same arrows over and over again in my backyard. Save on ammo and range fees, too!

I haven't seen anything but shotgun shells in ages. I haven't even bothered to look for a couple of months.

For anyone in southern Missouri I was at the Branson BassPro on Thursday and they had every thing except rimfire ammo. They did have 9mm and 223/5.56 on the shelves then. I also noticed two of my local Wal-marts had ammo in stock this week and two weeks ago, completely shocked after not seeing any for so long.

Gunbot and Ammoseek are great tools; basically, they are search engines specializing in ammunition vendors.
