Amsterdam Meet 2016 Report of Spyderco Prototypes

The Rock Salt is back, for a sprint run. To me, this is a familiar design and I like the bright orange scales. I can imagine this sprint run would make for a cool knife option in a bugout bag or survival kit, with its rustproof steel and bright orange handle.

Guess who's buying 2 Jumpmaster 2 as soon as they hit the dealers...
Thanks much for the pics and thread!

Just wondering, how much does it usually take to production knives like this to be released? In other words, when should we expect to see the Jumpmaster 2? Thanks!

I like how Spyderco uses the Salt series to continue, or bring back, classic designs. The Pacific Salt and Salt 1 knives are, in a way, ‘reboots’ of the classic Endura and Delica. The Salt version of the Snap-It is a renewed version of the classic Snap-It. The FRN finish on the handle felt distinctly different from the other Salt folders, it had a rougher texture. Together with the rubber insert, this rougher finish should make for a pretty secure handle. The yellow FRN hook that creates the ‘snap-it’ name, is supported by a steel or titanium frame (I forget which) to increase strength.

I would like that snap it if the clip was on the bottom, but still may pick it up

Hello, guys.
Can I know if there are any ETA or any expected day to expect the dealers to have this items? Rock Salt, Snap-it salt, Jumpmaster 2...Thanks!

2 weeks...wait, wrong subforum! :D

Nah, Spyderco won't give release dates. I think almost all the large companies have moved away from doing that. All release dates seem to really do is unleash a barrage of complaints one they miss 'em.

Man, i'm so excited to see the TAC 1 as a production sample! A Spyderco produced, Bradley designed flipper in M4...what's not to love?! Fingers crossed these go into production relatively soon, can't wait to throw that one in my pocket.

Anxious for the final installment today. Been enjoying the unveilings. The "no PM3 pictures" news does leave it as a bit of a cliffhanger but we wait patiently.

The Sustain was my favorite new fixed blade design at this year’s Amsterdam Meet. It was a nice large tactical type blade that was also very thin and light. I really liked the ergos, and even though my suburb environment doesn’t provide a clear ‘practical need’ for this design for EDC, I’m still going to get one. I’m sure I’ll find something cool or useful to do with it!

The Packer was a cool medium-sized fixed blade that –to me- looked like it would be right at home on a camping trip or picknick table. I thought the Packer would be a very nice flat utility design. I forgot what type of sheath was planned. Personally, I’m hoping for a Boltaron or Kydex sheath.

I often use, or test, new folders in the kitchen which is why I’m very anxious to try out this purpose driven design by Marcin Slysz. The SpydieChef sported some cool ergonomics and I’d love to try out the LC200N steel. It’s supposedly almost rust proof, but tempered to offer better edge holding than a plain edge H1 blade.

That Slysz is pretty sweet (wireclip notwithstanding). Though it looks like something Dmitri Sinkevich would design. Pretty sweet.

With the post of the new SpydieChef, I have finished posting all the new Spyderco designs from the 2016 Amsterdam Meet. However, we did have this thing running as well….

I got some videos taken straight from the meet, which I hope to share ASAP!
